5.0 out of 5 stars Left Behind, January 21, 2006
This review is from: Michael Jackson, the King of Pop: The Big Picture--The Music! The Man! The Legend! The Interviews: An Anthology (Paperback)
This 300 page book is not just another book on Michael Jackson! This book is unique and a mile from the rest! It's packed with detailed information on the life and career of the entertainer. It's a well-written book that can be housed in any public library or on any high school bookshelf. Yet, I have noticed that this clean book on Michael Jackson doesn't appear to be selling as well as all the other books that are on the market about him. What a pity! This book is more of a literary work on the Superstar life and career than any of the others that I have read. But it's missing one main ingredient - Trash! It doesn't really get into throwing stones and pulling what-ifs opinions out of the wind.
But that's the world we're living in. Give the people what they want, and what they want is dirty laundry over good writing! Decent works like this one get left behind!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's as if you were interviewing him, August 10, 2009

This review is from: Michael Jackson, the King of Pop: The Big Picture--The Music! The Man! The Legend! The Interviews: An Anthology (Paperback)
I really enjoyed this books because you were able to read actual interviews he was in. I've yet to see that be done in a book. I wish somebody could have given me a detailed description of the book SO I'm going to do it for anybody who too would like one :) The book has black & white photos throughout the book but in the middle is a 16 page color insert. The pictures aren't on glossy paper or anything. The quality is good but imagine printing colored photos from your printer. That's what is resembles. Anyway, the first page is entitled "Praise for Michael Jackson" and has various positive comments from different people. The next page is entitled "Did You Know?" and has paragraphs of facts about him. Afterwards is entitled "In His Own Words" and has 4 quotes he says. Ok, then you get to the chapters and there are 25 in all. I will list them:
1) inside MJ's heart lives an angel. 2) Michael and first wife lisa marie. 3) michael and his second wife debbie rowe. 4) the surrogate mother-martin bashir interview. 5) Michael in the face of negative press. 6) the single most successful entertainer of 20th century. 7) albums released by michael. 8) lyrics of michael's songs. 9) michael on tour. 10) michael's awards & achievements. 11) michael's films. *Michael Jackson Photo gallery through the years* 12) MJ talks about the sabbath. 13) In mj's soul dances a child. 14) Mj talks to Oprah. 15) diane sawyer interview. 16) OK magazine interview-part 1. 17) Barbara walters interview. 18) The Daily Mirror. 19) TV Guide interview: December 1999. 20) MTV interview. 21) USA Today. 22) TV guide interview November 2001. 23) Steve Harvey interview. 24) VIBE magazine interview. and 25) Gold Magazine, England, interview. The book ends with a page conclusion. The title really does say it all: it includes a bio, talks about everything from his achievements, music, interview transcripts as well as some nice photos of him. I hope I helped in recommending it :)

5.0 out of 5 stars The Incredible Entity - Michael Jackson, May 28, 2004

This review is from: Michael Jackson, the King of Pop: The Big Picture--The Music! The Man! The Legend! The Interviews: An Anthology (Paperback)
Author, Jel D. Lewis (Jones) has somehow managed to do something with this book that has never been done since the King of Pop hit stardom. She has put together a solid Anthology about the Superstar. She has taken the leanest meat from the cow and the sweetest juice from the peach to represent the real Michael Jackson! The Michael Jackson without the media window dressing! This book is a true keepsake for all of those who support the singer and invest in collectibles and not disposable trash.

5.0 out of 5 stars The BIG picture, May 25, 2009
This review is from: Michael Jackson, the King of Pop: The Big Picture--The Music! The Man! The Legend! The Interviews: An Anthology (Paperback)
This book is a must have for all Michael Jackson fans. At last a book, which is not mirroring an opinion of any authors on Michael Jackson. As the title suggests, it is simply putting the mere facts on his life in writing; the discography, the awards he had received, and much more. It contains ALL the transcripts of the interviews Michael Jackson was giving in the past decade (like the one he gave to Oprah Winfrey). No alterations, no additions, no opinions added, JUST the very words of THE man himself. Gives you a really honest and unbiased picture on the King of Pop, which leaves you with an understanding to his motivations and thoughts behind his actions.

I purchased this book for my sister for her birthday because is is a Die-Hard MJ fan and she just loves everything about this book!!, The pictures, The Interviews she says that it even has MJ opinion about how he felt about the his earlier hits. So I say this is a very excellent book to purchase for yourself if you too are a die-hard fan of MJ'S or even if you know someonre who is they won't be disappointed.

P.S. It even has his lyrics to certain songs. So how can you go wrong? this book was worth every cent I sent to it knowing how happy it made my sister.

5.0 out of 5 stars Michael Jackson - A unique man, October 2, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Michael Jackson, the King of Pop: The Big Picture--The Music! The Man! The Legend! The Interviews: An Anthology (Paperback)
This is a great read. Such a positive book. It shows how it is unique people in the world that make a difference and Michael Jackson sure was unique. The speech Michael Jackson gave at The Oxford Union, England in 2001 is printed in Chapter 13 and is the most exquisite thing I've ever read. It shows the inside of Michael Jackson and if more people had seen or heard this speech they couldn't help but weep and fall totally in love with Michael Jackson. His soul was something else. The interviews transcripts definitely show that he was very eccentric and certainly not your 'everyday Joe'. His beliefs and values were markedly different from the 'norm'. This was his blessing and his curse at the same time. Like it has been for other 'greats' in their time who had been taunted and ridiculed, then many years later are celebrated. Like Vincent van Gough, Galileo, Christians opposing animal cruelty at the Colloseum, the 'nerds' who go on to great achievements etc. Whatever is different is not to be trusted. Their lives become a struggle.

The writer shows there was a love/hate relationship with the media. The book highlights Michael Jackson's phenomenal star power and that he was always able to succeed without them. Afterall, he could do so well in spite of all the challenges he had faced, the media had to tear Michael Jackson down. They wanted to bring him down a peg. Envy, power, greed and ego from others was behind the determination to bring Michael Jackson down. He had achieved so much against great odds and they simply picked on him. In Australia, we call this the 'tall poppy syndrome'.

This book is so positive and shows the full extent of his achievements, the number of recordings, awards, concerts, generosity and so on. I just cannot believe one human being was capable of such great talent and kindness. The world has become a poorer place without Michael Jackson in it. All fans should have a copy of this.

This review is from: Michael Jackson, the King of Pop: The Big Picture--The Music! The Man! The Legend! The Interviews: An Anthology (Paperback)
This is a wonderful book because it's positive and sticks to the factual truth about MJ. Apart from telling the story of MJ's marriages and achievements, it includes the full text from many significant interviews that MJ gave. There is no better way to know the man than to listen to his own words rather than the distorted sensationalised rubbish created by the media.
