One Mad Ex-employee!,
By NY-Parker "FED-UP" (Arizona) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Michael Jackson: The Man behind the Mask (Hardcover)
Well I actually read this book and these stories this ex-employee writes seem to be so out there it has to be made up. How come this guy worked for MJ for 30yrs and never said anything? Worse continued to work for him? Only to be fired and then write this book? This guy has nothing nice to say about Michael Jackson in this book. Even claiming he dosen't eat fried chicken and collard greens because he dosen't like black people! Mr. Jones states that MJ is a racist in this book claiming he dosen't hire black americans to work for him. Well when I seen MJ on TV I see plenty of black people working for him. His long time nanny is black, security personnel are black, publist is black, and correct me if I'm wrong Bob Jones looks black to me! He uses plenty of testimony from the psychotic mom of the accuser in this book, which I wouldn't believe a single word from this con artist mom. Mr. Bob Jones leaves out of this book some big details about the accuser family like lying in court about a JCPenny lawsuit accusing security guards of sexually touching son who was stopped by these guards because he was shoplifting. Which the family was paid $150,000 and then one week after received $150,000 the mother files for welfare! ( Mother is currently being investigated for welfare fraud) Okay and if anybody believes that family was held hostage you really need to be ashamed of yourself! I don't think you can find a hostage that will tell you that they received a full body wax, went on shopping sprees, and dental appointments! Honestly a reader can't take this book as truth but if you want to read a gossip mag this is your book!

"From The Publisher" Blurb Says It All,
By
This review is from: Michael Jackson: The Man behind the Mask (Hardcover)
"To a certain degree, Bob Jones CREATED Michael Jackson." That's funny because I thought Joe Jackson, Berry Gordy, The "Motown 25th Anniversary" performance, the moonwalk, the voice, the family, the innovative music videos--the TALENT and charisma--I thought all of those things helped "create" Michael Jackson. In the end, I thought Michael Jackson created Michael Jackson. But no, apparently Bob Jones had something to do with it. What's his claim to fame? He came up with "King of Pop?" Oh fantastic! Because every time some reporter says "King of Pop," they preface it by saing "Self-proclaimed [King of Pop]." In America, at least, it's used tongue-in-cheek; it's used AGAINST Jackson.
So right there, before I even open up the book, before I even click the BUY tab, RIGHT THERE ON THE SCREEN I am confronted with a complete and utter lie. That Jones co-wrote this with an MSNBC analyst should be illegal. Was there no conflict of interest as pertains to the trial coverage? God, can't we leave the poor guy alone in his damn wishing tree? Bob Jones--you're a Black man. if Michael Jackson hates Black men, how is it that you worked so closely with him for DECADES? Why would he keep you on the pay roll? More importantly, why would you stay? Most important of all, why would I ever read this book?

This is garbage,
This review is from: Michael Jackson: The Man behind the Mask (Hardcover)
I picked up this book in a bookstore this evening and skimmed through it. I have to be honest. I can't believe bookstores are carrying this kind of garbage.
Some of the highlights included the author stating that Michael wrote a letter in his own feces! Come on people! Let's get real. It then went on to say that he knew that Michael spoke of "doo doo", but didn't realize he liked it so much. This paragraph of the book alone should be enough for people to throw the book down in disgust, and run as fast as they can out of the store! The only people who are going to like this book are people who are convinced that MJ was a child molester and people who don't like Michael Jackson no matter what good they hear about him. If you have your mind set against Michael and are deep in the mire of what the media has published about him (read "garbage"), then you will love this book. He also goes on and on about Michael not liking black people (funny how he spoke up about racism and defending his race often and visited Africa and defended Africa so often and spoke of Africa and told people how beautiful it was. The author loathingly and arrogantly kept referring to Michael as "The King" followed by all kinds of very sarcastic comments. You can read anger and resentment in this book from cover to cover. He has his facts all wrong about the 2005 trial and in retrospect of this trial and if you know the truth about it, you will see how wrong this book is. Not to mention that the author supposedly was witnessing all kinds of things and never reported them and kept working for Jackson. What kind of person would witness the things he suggests and keep working for years and years for a man who was doing these things and was supposedly so horrible? He mentions that Michael had to be paid for his charity work. Again, a bunch of garbage. Michael PAID FOR the operations of children who couldn't afford them, etc. He was pivotal in helping find a liver for a young child in another country who would have died without one, and, he paid for the operation. None of these things were reported in the media and Michael did not do any of this looking for publicity. He did it because he wanted to help others and help children and out of love. I think all of this kind of garbage that is being printed about him all for money is sickening. The DA Tom Sneddon searched several COUNTRIES looking for victims of Michael's and you know what he found? Nothing! He even had a site on the sherrif's website looking for any and all information on MJ. He also enacted a specific law to try to convict Michael. The case was full of lies and deceit. The Arvizo's were money-hungry manipulators who took Michael for a real ride. I have spoken with Michael's lawyer, with others who were involved in the trial as well as someone involved in the 1993 allegations for a project that will be released soon that will give a much truer picture into who Michael really was and the truth about the allegations and the trail and it is completely non-profit. I have been researching Michael, the cases, and other aspects of who Michael was and his life, for several months now and talking with people who knew him personally. I don't believe any of the garbage in this book. If you want to know truth, keep your eye out for this upcoming project and read books like "The Michael Jackson Conspiracy" by Aphrodite Jones, and "Redemption" by Geraldine Hughes. Also check out the DVD by filmmaker Larry Nimmer at [...]. People need to get educated about the truth and stop buying into all of the garbage that is out there. Not to mention that the authors admitting in the court room that they did indeed sensationalize the book. If you sensationalize (i.e. "LIE"), then how can you be trusted in anything you say?

Poorly Written, Factually Incorrect,
By Magic1 (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Michael Jackson: The Man behind the Mask (Hardcover)
I find it interesting that Jones has known Michael Jackson for as long as his has, yet he fails miserably in getting the most basic information about Jackson correct. The book was seemingly not edited at all, because it if was, a lot of the most glaring mistakes would have been caught. Unless that is, Jones just didn't care about this. He comes off as being a very bitter old man who wanted something for nothing. It is now clear who has been behind the Jackson rumor mill all these years.

It's TABLOID TRASH between the covers... !,

This review is from: Michael Jackson: The Man behind the Mask (Hardcover)
Well, this book is all very interesting EXCEPT.... NONE of it is true!! As an example, read these snippets from the court testimony of authors Jones and Brown, as they squirm UNDER OATH! Cross-examination of BOB JONES (April 11 2005) ...... 25 Q. And then you were asked, "Um, did you see 26 Mr. Jackson engage in any head licking of anybody?" 27 And your answer was, "Never." Remember that? 28 A. I recall. ....... 3 Q. And you told the prosecutor you had written 4 the words at the bottom of the page that refer to 5 licking, right? 6 A. Uh-huh. 7 Q. And is it your testimony that you have not 8 approved the accuracy of that statement? 9 A. That is correct. .......... 4 Q. And would you agree when you're working with 5 a co-writer and a publisher to prepare a book about 6 Michael Jackson, there's pressure to make things 7 sensational when you can, right? 8 A. Yes. 9 Q. And your publisher and others want a book 10 that can sell, correct? 11 A. My co-writer [STACEY BROWN]. The publisher wasn't involved 12 in that particular end of it. ............ 13 Q. Okay. And do you then typically correct or 14 change what you think is either inaccurate or 15 inappropriate? 16 A. Oh, I've changed millions of things that 17 were inaccurate that I didn't say ........... 5595 8 RECROSS-EXAMINATION [of STACEY BROWN] 9 BY MR. MESEREAU: 10 Q. Mr. Brown, what I think the prosecutor just 11 elicited is the following: When he[BOB JONES] was broke, he 12 said there was licking. And when he didn't have 13 financial problems, he said there wasn't any, right? 14 A. Well, if that's how you -- 15 Q. Right? 16 A. -- break it down, yeah, I guess. 17 MR. MESEREAU: Thank you. 18 MR. AUCHINCLOSS: No further questions. This says it ALL folks! This unholy pair can't get even the SIMPLE stuff down right!

Wear Gloves and a Face Mask,
By Paulie "Meh" (Anytown) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Michael Jackson: The Man Behind the Mask: An Insider's Story of the King of Pop (Kindle Edition)
Wear gloves and a gas mask when reading this piece of smelly garbage. This is the worse of the lot. First, the technical stuff. Where was the proof-reader? This book is incoherent with typos, incomplete sentences, double sentences, and misspelled words throughout. *The book is supposedly written by Bob Jones (close advisor to Michael Jackson) with Stacy Brown (he should turn in his hack license). Jones' words are put in italics. These italicized passages are few and far between but are supposedly there to enhance or clarify an event as an eye witness account. However, his portions make no sense and many of them seem to have absolutely no connection to any of the passages immediately before it. In at least one case, Stacy Brown says Jones' very next statement will answer a question he puts forth. Yet his statement does not answer the question and in fact has nothing to do with the topic at all. I had to read his paragraph three times to make sure I understood what I had read because I couldn't find the answer in his statement. Can either of these two read?
This book relies heavily on Taraborrelli's book in reporting events that are well known by now. I think Tarraborelli needs to sue a whole lot of people because everyone has been plagiarizing his book for a quick dime. Jones claims to have been a close advisor to Michael. *However, there is nothing in this book that demonstrates he even knew the man. His comments are vague, malicious, and only shows he hates the man, not that he knew anything about him. He must be a moron to have learned so little in thirty years. I could surf the internet and come up with the same stuff and more and simply use the word "I" where appropriate and call it an eyewitness account and write my own tale. As a matter of fact I think it will. I'll call it, "Michael Jackson, The Man My Third Cousin on My Step-Father's Step-Uncle's Mother's Dog Walkers', Ex-Boyfriend's, Ex-Wife's Garbage Man's Friend Knew". Indeed, he often admits he was not there, but "someone" said Mike said this or that or did this or that. He gives no corroborating information or details about anything that he says. In fact, he sounds like an idiot. Mike must have kept him around as a favor to the family. He inserts himself into and credits himself with every major event in Mike's life. For example, it was *he* who coined the phrase, "The King of Pop". As a matter of fact it was *he* who told Liz Taylor to use the phrase when announcing Michael for an award (yeah right). Any disgusting tidbit that could be gleaned from a tabloid he repeats here. He quotes individuals that have been shown to have been lying, to have been paid for their ever changing stories, and/or were not believed by the jurors. The book is chock full of information that we now know is completely erroneous (as borne out through trial testimony and the jury's verdict). Only "information" that puts a bad light on an event is reported while the other side of the story is never told. For example, the book (completed at the time the second child molestation investigation was underway - apparently they were so eager to capitalize on the scandal they couldn't wait for a verdict) reports that Michael's and his accuser's fingerprints were found on a porn magazine, but fails to report that the magazine was actually published after the boy could have ever been at Neverland to touch the book. He reports allegations as proof of facts (i.e. Michael molested Caulkin). There are no facts in this book at all. No indication whatsoever that they did anything other than steal information from Taraborrelli's book, repeat tabloid fodder, and add rambling, incoherent, non-incisive, drivel from an old, very bitter, very hateful has-been, hanger-on's mouth who got fired without a pension plan. It says even less of him (if that is at all possible) than his working for someone he found so distasteful and disgusting all these years. Any references he makes to Michael and children are events that were public and in full view of everyone. He makes oblique references to some behind the scenes stuff but admits he never actually saw Michael molesting any children, but he reveals that Michael is quite fond of the word, "do-do". I'm bit fond of that word myself and will use it to describe this book. This book is do-do. Wherever Michael is, I hope he just smiled. Forget this crap and read this instead: Michael Jackson: The Magic, The Madness, The Whole Story, 1958-2009 Michael Jackson Conspiracy

Revenge, and poorly written at that,
By
This review is from: Michael Jackson: The Man behind the Mask (Hardcover)
Having read Jones' book, I can't help but wonder why it is that he has been working so long for Jackson and has had only good things to say then, but now, once he has been fired, suddenly Jackson is this bad lunatic who can't stand to see his sibbling's success, has little moral sense, etc.
Why, for God's sake would you continue working for such a man for so many years? If Jones had had integrity, and a sense of what is wrong or right, he would have stopped working for Jackson right away. But he ended up working 34 years of his life for the man, and what does that tell us about him and his integrity? Therefore, this book is worth exactly the same as all the other books written by former employees, scorned wives (and such likes) - NOTHING. Moreover, it has no literary value whatsoever. In my opinion, it is a poorly-written attempt of revenge.

Read his testimony under oath instead!!,
This review is from: Michael Jackson: The Man behind the Mask (Hardcover)
This man worked for Jackson for decades basically doing nothing. He keeps his mouth shout and he now after getting a book deal he remembers all these disgusting things from the past. If the guy is telling the truth he needs to go to prison not be given your money as a reward. I read his court testimony and he admitted he hardly knew Jackson. And he was bitter for being fired. I know I would want to work for someone who did the thing he claim Jackson did. The man is sick and his testimony doesnt add up to the trash he wrote in this book. Skip the book and dont reward a liar.

This review is from: Michael Jackson: The Man Behind the Mask: An Insider's Story of the King of Pop (Paperback)
Both Stacy Brown and Bob Jones testified at Michael's trial, that a story in the book regarding Stacy witnessing
Michael and a child in a compromising position was NOT true and was written to get the book published. They actually ADMITTED this IN COURT during Michael's trial. When the DA questioned them about the "story", both men said that they NEVER witnessed Michael Jackson behaving inappropriately with any child. When asked by the DA why they changed their "story", they said they told investigators that they could not say for certain that the story (they told) was accurate. When Michael's defense attorney, Tom M., questioned them, he asked them if they EVER saw Michael do anything inappropriate with any child, and they both said "NO". So, when Tom M. asked them why they stated otherwise in their book, they each said "because we were GETTING PAID to do the book". So to clarify, Tom M. said, "So, when you were getting paid for the story, you said that Michael was inappropriate with a child, but now that you're in a court of law under the penalty of perjury, you're saying that you NEVER saw Michael be inappropriate with any child". Their answer was, "That's correct". Again Tom M. said, so when you're GETTING PAID, Michael was inappropriate BUT when you're in a court of law Michael WASN'T. Their response was, "Yes, that's correct". This was par for the course for so many people that came into Michael's life. They sold vicious LIES to tabloids and publishers for MONEY then the "legitimate" press took the stories and ran with them without EVER fact checking. I found out about Stacy Brown and Bob Jones by reading "Michael Jackson Conspiracy" by Aphrodite Jones a correspondent covering the trial for Fox News' Bill O'Reilly. She went into the trial thinking Michael was guilty and came out realizing he was innocent because she sat in on the trial EVERYDAY and heard ALL the witness testimony including Stacy Brown, Bob Jones, the Arvisos ("false" accusers), George Lopez, Jay Leno, Macaulay Culkin, Jordon Chandler's mother (1st "false" accuser) and Martin Bashir. This book is based on what she personally witnessed in court everyday and court transcripts. Google court transcript. A Great source about Michael's 1993 counter suit for extortion is the 1994 GQ article "Was Michael Jackson Framed? The Untold Story" by Mary A. Fischer. Google it. Another great source is the book "Redemption: The Truth Behind the Michael Jackson Child Molestation Allegations" by Geraldine Hughes. She's the legal secretary who worked for the "Chandler's" attorney on the 1993 case. What she witnessed was bone chilling and points to Michael's innocence and the extoration plan that Evan Chandler and his attorney carried out. Before trying to live off of Michael, the Arvisos tried with Chris Tucker, George Lopez and Jay Leno all of whom testified at the trial. The DA's office interviewed hundreds of families and kids that spent time at Neverland trying to find 1 that would say Michael was inappropriate with them. The DA traveled to 2 countries trying to find 1 kid that would accuse Michael. The DA set up a website soliciting "victims" of Michael's. They couldn't find ONE - NOT ONE. All of this came out at the trial. This is about the truth, plain and simple. I let the FACTS speak for themselves and in the case of Michael, the FACTS say that Michael was being extorted. Everyone that ever accused him was after money. As I learned through my research and quest for the TRUTH, the only thing Michael was guilty of was trying to help the wrong people, of being too giving and too trusting. Thousands of kids and their families visited Neverland over the years and had nothing but wonderful things to say about Michael. Michael used to say, "A lie runs sprints but the truth runs marathons".

This review is from: Michael Jackson: The Man behind the Mask (Hardcover)
One has to wonder why Mr. Jones would work for Michael for 34 years if he really thought he was a racist, pedophile. Bob Jones had nothing but good things to say about Michael Jackson until he got fired. Mr. Jones claims that he's not a disgruntled ex- employee, but this book says differently. This book is nothing but a cheap attempt to make Michael Jackson look bad. It's filled with lies and sensational stories. All of that and the book wasn't even written well.
