Editorial Reviews

Blu-Ray pressing. This performance was recorded in January 2010 during the 30th Anniversary Japan Tour. On this tour, the Michael Schenker Group consisted of Michael Schenker, Gary Barden, Simon Phillips, Wayne Findlay, and Neil Murray. The band, in impectable form, blasts through a track list highlighting all stages of Schenker's career: from UFO and Scorpions hits, through MSG classic tracks, to his solo compositions.

This is a top caliber concert blue ray.The video is clear and brite. Michael is looking healthy and happy playing the flying V. If You are a UFO fan there is songs for you. Michaels clear solo's were clear as hell comming from the center channel. He is in a groove the whole show. Simon Wright on drums adds alot to the show. Gary Barden sounds refreshed, Being the beginning of the tour helps with any singer. Setlist is good the song (On And On) Is my favorite of the set. IMO I think it's the best Metal riff ever. If youre a Schenker fan or UFO fan this is a must have.I was skeptical because I want good audio. And I was pleasantly surprised.
I saw this tour so it even makes it that much more enjoying. If you are a guitarist fan you will like.

Not only is Michael Schenker and the rest of the band in top form, the production quality of this DVD is excellent. Great editing, cuts, close-ups, etc. Sound is great! I've seen Michael live many times (the last in June 2009) and his playing on this DVD is the best I've seen him (tied with when he was back with UFO in approx. 1995). Any guitarist wishes they could be half as good as Schenker, and for him to be playing at this level when he's 55 is incredible. My only complaint about the DVD is the singer, Gary Barden, is a goof with his ad libbed comments. A couple of songs in he says something like "ok, sit back and relax, we have a lot of songs to get through." What??!!! He makes it sound like a long dental appointment. And this DVD is anything but. It is a blistering set of the best of MSG, with a couple of UFO classics added in. (I also wish "Lights Out" was included, but that's a small quibble.) MSG rocks out on this DVD, and once again showcases Michael Schenker as one of, if not THE best rock guitarist of all time.

All these 5 star reviews are warranted. the band is firing on all cylinders...Gary is back and sounds like its 1981 again, Simon Phillips is a beast behind the kit, Wayne Findley, what can be said about this guy, easily Michael's longest serving musical companion. And Michael, WOW, he is spot on. His playing hasn't been this lively since the Unforgiven World Tour over 10 years ago. I seen him again on that 2004 tour, which that piece of sh*(i)*t dvd was released man his playing back then was pathetic, just too much substance abuse. But not here, the sound, the editing, the video, the set list, the performance are all perfect especially on blu ray.

I'm a new Schenker fan - I was instantly converted to one when I saw him play at the Key Club in Hollywood last year with a friend. I was completely blown away by he and his band. This Blu-ray disc is no exception. They did a good job of showing Michael up close when he is playing the more complicated passages - his dexterity is amazing. The audio mix is clear and balanced with good fidelity. It is presented at 96khz/24bit so we get true hi rez video and audio with this disc. Highly recommended for fans new and old.

Like most Michael Schenker concerts, you can rely on hearing many of the most popular songs from across the band's catalog. In this case, singer Gary Barden and drummer Simon Phillips from the original MSG album, along with Neil Murray on bass and Wayne Findlay on rhythm guitar and keyboards, support Michael "Shredder" infusing new life and energy into a lot of timeless old songs. The audio and video quality of the Blu-Ray are absolutely amazing and the performances tie it all together for an unsurpassed live concert experience. Barden's voice is as strong as it ever was for those of you who might be wondering. This is so much better that the MSG 2004 World Tour DVD, which I bought when it was released, that I wish I could get my money back. A royal rock retrospective of MSG awaits you. Enjoy!
