Editorial Reviews

Classic era MSG live on German TV from 1981! Filmed on January, 24th 1981 at the Markthalle in Hamburg, this concert presents the first MSG album almost in its entirely (and almost in the same running order) including the two greatest songs Michael Schenker has created with UFO: ""Doctor Doctor"" and ""Rock Bottom"".

Sound and video are good for the times and translate well.

Sound is awesome for a video this old (the show was recorded in January 24, 1981), editing also, Schenker is amazing here.

This is a fantastic concert...I mean, truly spot on, everyone is on 10...amazing show. Glad I bought this...if you are a fan you will be too...

I am not sure if this is a complete show...but considering the date of the show, it appears the majority of MSG first album and the UFO classics are properly represented. So NO complaints here...

Also, the picture and video and audio are all great...however, please give consideration that this was recorded 30 years ago...and it doesn't appear that any state-of-the-art remastering to the video was done, but don't let that hamper your decision to buy this everything is all good.

A great release, you will enjoy...

I loved this DVD from the moment it started playing. Took me straight back to 1980 when I was living a brilliant youth. Ahh. Schenker is in top form and looking cool. The band is on fire with great performances from all concerned. The highlight for me though is the great Cozy Powell. My first drum hero, any footage I can get is a blessing. Amazing that the Schenker studio songs were played by Simon Phillips on record but Cozy rips the rock n roll into them without losing any of the songs finesse or feel. Lets face it Cozy and Simon are poles apart as drummers go. Only highlights Cozys greatness for me. A must for Schenker fans. A must for Cozy fans. Brilliant. Sound and video are good for the times and translate well. This DVD rocks.

Good show and good quality. Shows the band when they first started. With only the first album under their belts they were striving to make their mark in the rock world. Good show.

1980-1982 were the best years for MSG. We have nearly the entire 1st MSG record performed live and a few UFO classics thrown in for good measure. This DVD has its secret ingreident in Mr. Paul Rayond bringing the UFO sound to MSG in the best way....he is terrific. This disc is highly recommended. In my eyes, the true peak of Michael's solo career is captured right here....LIVE. You will proceed to checkout with this one! RIP to Cozy Powell too....he was amazing w/ these guys; a true professional.

This old bootleg is finally officially released. It gets the Michael Schenker Group after their first album, but with a totally different formation from the guys that recorded the first album (now comes Powell, Raymond and Glen).

Sound is awesome for a video this old (the show was recorded in January 24, 1981), editing also, Schenker is amazing here. There's no better Schenker video around (until the recent released 30 years celebratin concert).

A gem.

This is a true find. Great DVD of Michael right at the beginning of his solo career. Cozy Powell on drums is obviously new to the band at the time of this recording, he seemed a tad stiff on some tunes, but hey, still great. Michael is smiling ,having a good time, and absolutely killing on guitar. The filming is awkward at times, venue is small, but the performance itself is whats great. Any fan of Michael would love this. Gary Barden is...well Gary Barden.More like a four and a half stars rating because I always found Barden's banter and interjections into Lights Out annoying. That being said, it's still a great purchase.
