Product Description

SetCPU for Root Users – Overclocking your rooted device lets you speed up your phone’s processor when you are using it and lets you slow it down when it goes into "sleep" mode. It can either be a battery hog or battery saver.

SetCPU is a tool for changing the CPU settings (capable of overclock and underclock) on a rooted Android phone, including the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S, Motorola Droid, Nexus One, G1, G2, Samsung Galaxy S II, myTouch 4G, Motorola Xoom, or one of many other devices to improve performance or save battery.

SetCPU also allows you to set up powerful profiles to change the CPU speed under certain conditions, such as when the phone is asleep or charging, when the battery level drops below a certain point, when the phone's temperature is too high, or during certain times of day. See the screenshots for examples of how you might set up profiles.

SetCPU's wide feature set make it useful to beginners and enthusiasts alike. Accelerate your processor to unleash your phone's multitasking potential, or dial your CPU's speed down to save battery.

Don't like to buy from Amazon. Out of date version. Otherwise a decent app. The developer also is not helpful in assisting in this matter. To think I paid to get an outdated app!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have for root users March 22, 2011
One of the main reasons I decided to root my Droid 1. Overclocking is really easy and straightforward, as well as there being many other more advanced settings. A must have!

1.0 out of 5 stars Long out of date... May 22, 2014
Verified Purchase
Pros: it works

Cons: current version is 3.1.2 right now and if you want this then just get the free download of it off XDA

Summary: I bought to support the guy for making this cool app and know what my thanks for supporting someone is? Absolutely nothing... this is the same out of date free version on the XDA forums just google "setcpu" and you'll find it, I probably should've read a few reviews first but as stated above I wanted to support the guy, welp not doing that again..... seriously all I ask is for the latest update, its not that hard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have app for maximum CPU control April 2, 2011
This is a great app and allows for complete control of your CPU. There are some standard settings that you can use if you don't want to experiment, but if you really want control, you can set maximum CPU based on your battery level and for when your phones screen is off. Some theorize that capping the CPU wont help since it will just cause your CPU to run longer and kill the battery anyway, but I disagree. That may be the case on a rare basis, but overall it has really kept the usage under control. To me, heat = major battery drain. Since I installed this, I rarely feel serious warmth from my HTC HD2 (running froyo off SD card). On that note, you can also set up CPU temp profiles to keep it under a certain temp. Best $2 I've spent so far! Thanks!

The app at Amazon is an old version. The developer support is extremely poor. Think twice before you buy another product from this developer as you will waste your money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works
I was hoping to overclock a dog slow tablet. This didn't do that, but does do a good job keeping it running as fast as it can with the cpu's factory clock speeds.

Custom ROM needed?
You will need a custom kernel that allows voltage control. SetCPU should run on any ROM with such a kernel.
