Excellent Tool for Kids
This book is great! It gets right down to the basics that face a child when Mom has breast cancer or, I would think, any cancer. It is simple, easy to read and understand, with childlike drawings that ease kids into the realization that Mom and the family are going to be going through some changes that may be upsetting, but it's all going to be okay. A very reassuring...

Illustrations leave a lot to be desired
I purchased this book for a patient library, and ended up taking it off the shelf, as I felt the illustrations would be disturbing to kids in the age group for which the book is intended. The illustration of the mom's hair falling out looks like nothing so much as a bleeding head. I think this book was one of the first of its kind, and I applaud it for that, but...

This book is great! It gets right down to the basics that face a child when Mom has breast cancer or, I would think, any cancer. It is simple, easy to read and understand, with childlike drawings that ease kids into the realization that Mom and the family are going to be going through some changes that may be upsetting, but it's all going to be okay. A very reassuring book for kids.

I purchased this book for a patient library, and ended up taking it off the shelf, as I felt the illustrations would be disturbing to kids in the age group for which the book is intended. I think this book was one of the first of its kind, and I applaud it for that, but thankfully, we have other options - with much more appropriate and appealing illustrations - today.
