Saying something!,

This review is from: Michel Cusson & Wild Unit (Audio CD)
This is a nice fusion album, a different one. Michel is the former guitarist of the super fusion band UZEB. I own every album of the canadian band, and I love them. But here you may find something a little different: mainly Uzeb stuff but with different influences, different caribbean and funky/fusion rhythmns, more open happy melodies. From a guitaristic standpoint Michel is a complete player, he plays bebop phrasing, rock leads and funky rhythms (a lot of them for the truth), plus everything in between those poles. And moreover he has is own originality and personality. As a jazz guitar player, I appreciate him a lot. I love Bop'n'roll'n'funk in the end! The widest possible music knowledge is a magnificient resource for a player who really want to say something through notes. And Michel in a world of meaningless fusion albums IS SAYING something here! Listen for example the majestic ballad Le chant.... inspiring, truly. In the end, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, isn't it?
