From the Publisher

This is a unique book on Michelangelo and his life. It should appeal to people from 12 to 100. Travelers to Italy, art students, people interested in art, biography, and history, and fans of Michelangelo will all enjoy this easy-to-read description of the Master's life and times in Tuscany and Rome. Michelangeo lived a long life of nearly 90 years and worked with seven popes in his art work. He left a legacy that still inspires people from all countries today as it has for the past 500 years. Michelangelo's art is timeless and Washington has done an admirable job in describing his work in a concise manner without going into too much detail and interpretation of the meaning in the piece of art. Especially helpful is the thorough appendix which provides several lists to aid the traveler that will tell him or her in which cities to find Michelangelo's artworks, where they are located by subject of painting, sculpture and architecture, a 12 page chronology of Michelangelo's life, and an extensive bibliography of books and videos on Michelangelo and his times. Two maps will assist the traveler in locating the key cities and towns where Michelangelo lived and worked and where are the key locations within Florence that contain Michelangelo's touch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and Concise Read---Just What I Wanted!, March 6, 2006
This review is from: Michelangelo : In the Footsteps of the Master; An Account of Michelangelo's Life and Art for the Modern Traveler (Paperback)
In preparation for my trip to Italy I wanted a better understanding of this magnificent man and the work that he did. Specifically, I was looking for a relatively easy read that covered the history of Michelangelo from birth to death. This book met all my expectations. The pictures were not very good quality but I didn't mind since I was going to see most of it in person. Great traveler's history of Michelangelo!
