I bought these because it was a good price on a reasonably heavy gauge set of jumper cables. And if you've ever seen somebody screw up connecting two cars- or the results- you understand how much damage it can do. Plus I needed a new set of cables and these were available.

Unfortunately foolproof makes them unusable sometimes. If the receiving vehicle/battery is completely dead the cables can't register polarity and will not charge the dead car. Only one LED light will show connection (on the running vehicle) and the other will not- no juice = no charge. You'll need to use standard jumper cables to get enough energy in the dead battery to produce enough polarity for these to register.

Also the cables are a nice heavy gauge but the clamps have really poor surface area so I don't think there's much gain in the flow of electricity. Takes time to charge a battery enough for a jump and there doesn't seem to be enough juice through the cables to jump directly without first charging the battery.

Otherwise extremely handy. Really convenient if you're trying to charge in the dark. I leave these in my truck that I loan out to friends- never have to worry about them accidentally messing up!

Great fool proof cables. Doesn't matter if pos. or neg. cable is attached to the wrong battery post.Keeps the possibility of getting burns from sparks from occuring. Always makes it certain that you get it correct each time. Heavy duty construction, yet light weight.

I have this product and it works wonder. I do not have to worry about what end goes where.The lights let you know if the unit is hooked up correctly and if the unit will be able to take a charge. This would make a great gift.

These cables work perfectly. I love the fact that you don't have to pay attention if you have the right clamp on positive or negative. I also like the green light that shows you have a good connection. The only minor problem I have is that the cables could be a little longer.

Just got these today (Oct. 1, 2010), and had cause to put them to use immediately. They worked perfectly, just as advertised. No need to worry about polarity issues, no sparking, just quick and easy and problem free. Highly recommended.

Have not used the cables yet, which is a good thing since that would mean we've had a dead battery. Got these cables for my wife to keep in her car so in an emergency she wouldn't have to deal with positive and negative terminals and risk a disaster from getting it wrong. The only thing that might be a problem is the springs in the clamps are real strong and might be difficult for a woman to open.

I purchased a pair of these for my wife's car. I was concerned about her being able to "give herself a jump" without having a battery blow up in her face. You cannot hook these up wrong. They are very nice construction and about 12' long. Perfect for standard home use. The pricing is better than I could find locally as well. I would buy another set of these for myself or a friend.

Good price, I bought three sets. It's a no brainer, every time I need to jump someone or if I need jumped, I forget the proper sequence for hooking up the jumper cables. Then you get the guy who THINKS they know it all and they've been jumping cars forever the improper way. I just worry about the electronic in my car. Anyway, all the advertisement I've read on these cables, you don't have to worry about any of this. I just wish they came with a zipper case to stow them.

Excellent buy for a college student. Great holiday gift. Easy to use and doesn't take up much room in the trunk.
