The thoroughness and accuracy of this guide are unsurpassed. The guide uses a set of hieroglyphics to provide ratings and information. These are explained in both French and English at the beginning of the book. The written descriptions of each individual hotel and restaurant are in French only. These, however, are relatively unimportant, being typically generic and, often, somewhat vapid. Without knowing a single word of French, one can derive over 90 percent of the benefit of this book.

Although one might occasionally disagree with the number of stars awarded to certain restaurants, no one can dispute that the Michelin Red Guides are the most complete, comprehensive and useful guides to hotels and restaurants in the civilised world. My only complaint is that this edition is a flimsy paperback instead of the comfortable hard bound version to which I have become accustomed.

It's light (sheer paper), but handy. Somewhat hard to read on this paper. Otherwise fine. A must-have for anyone traveling in France.

Ok this particular book is in french but it is available in english. Where ever I go I always take an updated version for that particular destination. They are very up to date on quality, price and new restaurant. I like to plan a bit ahead and then go to a few places on the spur of the moment.
Really hard for any place to get a michelin star. When they give one rest assure it is worth the trip. If you go abroad or to any major city in the Us, this is a must have.
Happy Holidays everyone and Bon Appetit!

We've been using Michelin Red Guide for over 30 years. Last one was 2007. For an upcoming trip to France we purchased the newest guide. Format & Info as expected (good). In the past we had "hard" cover versions. This is paper/soft cover and a little lighter.
