1.0 out of 5 stars Kindle Edition is not the real Green Guide
Don't buy this terrable Kindle Edition.

Buy the excellent paper back Michelin France that lists 20x more sites for your trip.

I disagree with the reviewer from Switzerland. What I love about the France guide is that Michelin allows travelers to France the freedom to hone up on everything they need to know about major sights and attractions as well as the little hidden corners of the country that real francophiles might enjoy. These are the places where you don't run in to everyone else on vacation with the same guidebook. You can break away from the crowds and still have enough information to make new discoveries. As go the hotel and restaurants, there is a nice red book called the Michelin Guide France that accompanies the Green Guide. Anyone going to France should most certainly have a copy of it - use this and eat in authentic restaurants the way only savvy locals do. Michelin provides you enough info to make your own discoveries without any surprises.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best and most thorough available., October 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Don't visit France without this! It provides detailed information that enriches your enjoyment of every place you visit. If the detail given is too much for you, you can just skip on to something that interests you more. The pictures, the little maps of many of the sites, the descriptions and analyses of stained glass windows -- very helpful for those of us who are not experts in history, art history, architecture, etc.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful guide/Ripp Off, May 6, 2010

This is a very limited guide. No color. Very poorly organized with lousy navigation. Does not add any value as it doesn't use Kindle features. I'd return it if I could; instead I just deleted it.

1.0 out of 5 stars no color, no embedded local maps, December 15, 2009

The Kindle version is disappointing, no color, no embedded local maps, just references to Michelin Maps. Well, the cover is in color, as an iPod user I feel deceived

5.0 out of 5 stars Michelin Green Guides Rule!, July 9, 2011
I use several travel guides but always refer to Michelin Travel Guides to get a flavor of the history/time line, geography, weather, and special events of a country. You can't beat Amazon prices.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good guide but needs more details, May 19, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Found this guide to be good but needs more info. on areas that it covers. Organization is not easiest to navigate. Quality is good but expected more from this guide. Should have more on prices & hours of operation. Also more info. on methods of transportation including companies for smaller towns in France.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best guidebook out there for France, March 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Since the company that publishes this book is French, one would expect this book to be the best out there --- and it is! I always rely on Michelin Green Guides whenever traveling in a foreign country because their maps are up-to-date, information is usually current, and they often give better information than whatever the local city guides can give. Am already getting more ideas of places to see than I have time for, and I can't wait to use it when in France later this year.

1.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating! Incomplete index, October 4, 2010
By
Dorothy E. Meier (Mountain View, CA United States) - See all my reviews
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Using this book can be very frustrating. Rather than being organized alphabetically, the book is organized by region, which has its advantages and disadvantages. But with the guide's incomplete index, this is extremely frustrating. For instance, if you want to read up on Annecy, Lac du Bourget or Chambery, all of which rate multiple Michelin stars, you will not find them in the index. So after looking in the index and not finding them, you have to go find the table of contents. What is the name of the region? A for Alps? No such category. So you scan the table of contents trying to find the appropriate category - ah, there it is - FRENCH Alps! And yes, there you can find Annecy and the page number.

All in all, an experience that is bound to raise your blood-pressure. Avoid this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dependable reference guide, September 12, 2009

I have found all Michelin products to be invaluable when planning a trip. Hotels and Restaurants are rated, and while I've run into a very few clunkers in the restaurant recommendations, I've found the recommended hotels were well described, very clean, and mainly, that I never would have known about without the Guides.

Both the Green Guide and the Red Guide are dependable and useful. I highly recommend both.
