This is a great pocket size maps, unlike many tourist maps that only covers the very center of the city, it has the complete coverage of all 20 Arrondissements of paris, all in the same 1;10000 scale. It includes a lot of useful information usually not available on other maps, such as locations of taxi stands, locations of multiple entrances of a same metro stations, bus map, night bus map, street index, location and time of street markets, etc.

I bought this mapbook based on the reviews, but overall I prefer "The Paris Mapguide" for several reasons. The main one is that the scale/font is too small on "Paris par Arrondisement" -- I'm only 40 years old but find it extremely hard to read, whereas "The Paris Mapguide" is more detailed with the locations of hotels & main sights, plus everything looks about 3x larger. Other pros of "The Paris Mapguide" are that it has more info on tourist attractions, plus it's in English!

However "Paris par Arrondissement" has some good features as well. It's much newer / more updated, and the "practical information" section on the back with the locations / opening days & times of the markets, taxi phone numbers, and bus routes is really great. It's definitely aimed more for the Parisien local, whereas "The Paris Mapguide" is for the Parisien visitor from abroad.

What do I recommend? Buy "The Paris Mapguide" to help with your planning before you get to Paris, but if you'll be there for more than a few days, buy "Paris par Arrondisement" when you arrive in Paris for the practical matters (it's also only 5.90 euros there so you can save a couple bucks that way if you want both).

When I received this book in the mail I didn't think it would be that useful (the maps seemed small and confusing when I viwed them at home) but I brought it along to Paris nontheless. It proved to be invaulable. I LOVE this guide. It has every street that I was searching for, even the shortest, little back-alley side streets. You cannot possibly get lost in Paris with this in hand, but most certainly can without it. It saved us a lot of time and was very helpful in figuring out in which direction to proceed (to get to a specific street) when emerging from the metro. It also has a bus map, metro map, schedule of the paris farmers' markets, etc. The maps themselves have great detail such as cemeteries, churches, metro stops, even street numbers. You'll need no other maps if you take this along. Highly recommended! I was surprised and delighted to discover just how very useful this was.
