Michelle Obama - Amazing Role Model,
This review is from: Michelle Obama: Speeches on Life, Love, and American Values (Paperback)
This book is an incredible collection of speeches and excerpts of speeches from Michelle Obama. She tells her story, the story of her family, her upbringing, her life challenges, how she fell in love with Barack, and what it's like to be a mom with all the pressures of everyday life. I will keep this book not only for the inspiration it provides, but for the period in our history that it marks.

I was given this book as a gift by someone who knows how much I love the Obamas. I didn't think there was anything more I could learn about them or read that I hadn't read or heard before. I wanted the book more for the history side of it. When I finally got around to reading it, I was surprised at how much this book affected me! This particular collection of speeches is incredibly moving.
I've read the book three times now, and sometimes I just pick it up to flip through for inspiration. Reading this book has given me hope that our country really is headed in a new and better direction.

LOVE THIS BOOK............BUT,
This review is from: Michelle Obama: Speeches on Life, Love, and American Values (Kindle Edition)
I love this book, however, I believe THE WHITE HOUSE QUEEN is better. Read THE WHITE HOUSE QUEEN by Raymond Sturgis, and you get speeches, compositions and poetry.....A WINNING COMPILATION.

Great record of an historic campaign,
By Book Reviewer (L.A.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Michelle Obama: Speeches on Life, Love, and American Values (Paperback)
This is a great collection of campaign speeches that don't put too much emphasis on campaigning. The publisher has found and transcribed many speeches that are more personal to Michelle, herself. This is an important record of history, and I hope to see a volume 2.
Here are some of the speeches you'll find in the book: Meeting Barack Campaigning in New Hampshire Women for Obama "Be Not Afraid" Iowa Caucus "To Whom Much is Given, Much is Expected" UCLA "First Time Proud" Town Hall with Barack Obama Gay and Lesbian Leadership Council "One Nation" Convention Speech Surprise Speech at DNC

It has loads of great speeches that Michelle did while campaigning for Barrack. Some of them are from the early days when she was still getting used to speaking. Her DNC speech is included, of course, and if you're looking for a book that includes all the history bits, this book also has (in the appendix) Barack Obama's Inaugural address. Perfect keepsake for this incredible election year.

The best Michelle Obama book I've found,
By
This review is from: Michelle Obama: Speeches on Life, Love, and American Values (Paperback)
This is by far the best Michelle Obama book on the market. I have bought several others that, to my surprise, had only 40 or 50 pages of actual content. Finally, here's a book that delivers what I've been waiting for! The book is a solid package of Michelle Obama in her own words. It's not padded with uninteresting commentary or introductions - just Michelle. Just like I want. Thanks for a great book.
My favorite parts are when she talks about uniting people behind a single purpose, to move the country forward with the same goal. It's very inspiring to hear a woman speak with so much strength and so much belief in Americans. And also when she talks about wondering whether or not her father would be proud of how she's using her life - I'm really moved by it.

Made me cry (with joy),

This review is from: Michelle Obama: Speeches on Life, Love, and American Values (Paperback)
I agree with other reviewers. This book will moved me to tears - tears of hope and joy. Never before have we had a role model in the White House quite like Michelle Obama. She believes in our country, in the power of the human spirit, and in hope and faith. She believes that words really can change the world, and she's not too jaded to try. Michelle offers us a lesson to live by: that hope and faith and belief in ourselves can unite us all.

A Must Have,

This review is from: Michelle Obama: Speeches on Life, Love, and American Values (Paperback)
This is a gem of a book. It's essentially twenty (or so) of Michelle Obama's best speeches. You really feel like you get know her as she tells her story and explains her values. She's the kind of woman I can really relate to and even aspire to be more like. She came from very humble beginnings, worked very hard, and tried to do the right things all of her life. She is truly a role model and this book makes me proud to have her as our First Lady.
