Book Description

February 22, 2010
"Bringing the English speaking person to the Word of God." - The PlowShare Mission. This reference translation provides a stepping-stone between biblical Hebraic-Koine Greek and Modern English. Using Modern English words and grammar, the biblical Greek text is fully translated into a readable, intermediate English form that preserves the distinct concepts and contextual meanings used in the biblical Greek text. One does not need to know biblical Greek to use this stepping-stone. However, in order to enjoy a fuller understanding of the richness and clarity of God's Word, the student should embrace both biblical Greek and Hebrew. This Bible translation, and its companion dictionary, was created to help the student move beyond the limitations of English translation. The Hilkiah Edition was hand-translated to ensure the preservation of the concepts and contexts expressed in the Greek biblical text. Custom software was used to facilitate the effort. One primary undertaking required by this endeavor was to reconcile biblical English vocabulary with biblical Greek vocabulary. This assured the highest degree of English word consistency with the Greek text itself. The benefit is a more accurate presentation and correlation of biblical thoughts, concepts, and instructions. In keeping with the witness, instruction, and authority of the New Testament scripture, the Book of John is placed first in this printed text. It immediately identifies the True Author of life, creation and the scriptures. It begins with the signature of God as presented in the book of Genesis.

5.0 out of 5 stars Concept for concept, Context for context, Word for word.(tm), March 11, 2010
This review is from: Mickelson's Hilkiah Edition New Testament Translation: A stepping-stone English translation to the Hebraic-Koine Greek of the Textus Receptus, the 1550 Stephanus (Hardcover)
By the Translator - Concept for concept, Context for context, Word for word.(tm) Yes, all three! This New Testament translation provides a contextually consistent translation directly from the Hebraic use of Koine Greek straight into modern English. The text contains Strong's numbers over each word with Mickelson's context numbers when needed. An enhanced Greek morphology is placed underneath each English word (or word form) in the translation. This is the first time this has been accomplished for an English text.

This resource fully allows the English reader to read and study the New Testament in a natural, modern English dialect that captures all the nuances of the Hebraic-Koine Greek New Testament. Thus, correlation of passages across the New Testament is greatly improved. The metrics to support that statement can be found online at PlowShare Mission.
