"Winds of Impotence" is a crude, but surprisingly funny book. The art is excellent, with a retro "underground" feel. A story about pop culture, prejudice, and the self-destructive evils of political expediency. Even though relevant in today's political climate, it's main point is to deliver laughs. In this case, laughs in the form of a zombie-creating plague spread by breakfast cereal, but laughs nonetheless.

A blistering indictment of all that is evil, phoney, and cruel in the world. But just because this comic's heart is in the right place and it's targets are well-chosen doesn't mean it's any good.
I could go on and on about the plot's coherence, the high-quality artwork, and Mickey's moral complexity; but what really makes this comic good are the little touches. Here are a few of my favorites: 1. Hali Bossi's Turkish "pants of many patterns", 2. The exterminator's tiny wiener, 3. "I am purified! Now I am ready to kill! Kill! Kill in Jesus name!" 4. A Central American palindrome 5. Fatima (that chick is hot!) 6. The coolest cereal box cover ever! 7. Zombie rehabilitation 8. The proud look on the duck's face after he bites the rabbit's ass 9. The Hateful Bread 10. Winger, Asia, Poison! This comic is superb. |
