A Scottish Dream,
By
This review is from: a Mickle, a Muckle, a Malt and the Moon (Paperback)
In `A Mickle, a Muckle, a Malt and the Moon' Bill Smith has conjured up for us A Scottish Dream and spiced it with An American Nightmare. The novel is a politico-scientific romance packed with unforgettable characters who are brought to life with effortlessly realistic dialogue; the action takes place in Scottish locations where we can feel the history and absorb the sweet air of the Western Isles. We know early on that the Scots are headed for the Moon - with the help of a dram or two -but something else is afoot and we are kept guessing until late on when the tension is released and all is made clear. The end indeed justifies the means. Great reading with an Arran - and make mine a double.

M to the power of 4,
This review is from: a Mickle, a Muckle, a Malt and the Moon (Large Print) (Paperback)
All Scots and everybody in Scotland should read Bill Smith's delightful book which is political novel, romance and comedy
rolled into one. Bill's characters evolve beautifully, his settings are truly memorable and the sting in the tail is well worth waiting for. Who said that the end doesn't justify the means? |
