Editorial Reviews

Review

"Well written, a great read, and a massive amount of interesting details on every distillery. No where will you find a more comprehensive yet accessible reference on this subject in one well laid out book and after our years in the industry searching for just such a reference we should know. A must have.Chris Carlsson, SpiritsReview.com

More About the Author

David J. Reimer, Sr., has always had an appreciation for fine spirits, however it wasn't until he visited the Caribbean during a work study exchange with the Rotary Club that he became fascinated with the distilling process. Reimer didn't realize it at the time, but this trip would later be the inspiration for the book. Years later, when micro-distilleries started popping up in the U.S., Reimer wanted to learn more about the industry but, when he went looking for a guide to U.S. micro-distilleries, he found nothing. Reimer decided to do his own research, then thought, "If I'm going to do the research, I'm going to write a book." And Micro-Distilleries in the U.S. and Canada was born.

In addition to being a craft spirits connoisseur, Reimer is a freelance journalist, award winning photographer, veteran volunteer firefighter, humanitarian and entrepreneur. Over the past 25 years, he's had scores of articles and dramatic imagery published in professional journals, consumer magazines, and textbooks. When he's not working on upcoming book projects - or traveling and sampling fine spirits - Reimer enjoys woodworking, gardening, and cooking.

Micro Distilleries are a Déjà vu phenomenon, once common in the 19th and early 20th century, they faded until the latter part of the 80s, 90s and the 21st Century. The author David Reimer, has included a rather extensive list of micro distillleries, names and locations. Something we need, aprticularly if you like to drink and like to drink the best spirits.

He takes us thorough in a rather extensive way, the whole industry. I for one, enjoy trying things that are different and are truly American. Hats off to Mr. Reimer!

I was really impressed by the amount of info this book had in it. I look forward to seeing another edition with more distilleries and updated info when it becomes available.

If you are like me, you love the story behind the brand. This book brought the wonderful story of some of the country's artisan microdistilleries to the masses.

This is a great reference book however contrary to the "Click to LOOK INSIDE" feature which implies that the book is in full color; (with the exception of the front and back cover) the book is actually 100% Black and White. This is too bad since this book is filled with pictures of bottles and distilleries that lose their impact due to the lack of color not to mention the fact that customers are duped into believing that they are getting a book in full color which is not the case. The preview pages in "Click to LOOK INSIDE" should be modified to feature what the book actually looks like on the inside.
