Once you install the software and plug in the hub, your system will have an additional four easy-access USB ports-ideal for home users with lots of peripheral equipment like digital cameras, portable printers, or gaming devices. Powered directly from the USB port on your computer system, no additional external power is necessary, but an AC adapter is included in case you're planning on stacking or connecting additional hubs.

The reader/writer performs as a removable disk drive, so you can easily transfer data between your system and any SmartCard storage devices. Micro Innovations includes a limited lifetime warranty on parts and service.

For what it is, it works well, and transfers the data from my CompactFlash card in the blink of an eye.

It's not what the manufacturer describes, however. It's not a 4-port USB hub, it doesn't come with an AC adapter (doesn't need one to just read/write to a data card), and the attached USB cable is only about a foot long, not the fifty-something inches as in the description.

If you're looking for a USB hub, keep looking. If you're looking to save digital camera batteries, and to download your images from the data card faster than your camera-connection would, this is a very inexpensive way to do just that, and only that.

As stated before, this is not as described. It is only a card reader, period. Works OK, but not as slick as some others and the cord length can be an issue.
