2.0 out of 5 stars Micro Innovations PDA Keyboard (Junk), November 10, 2008
This review is from: Micro Innovations PDA Portable Folding Wireless Keyboard - TKB700U (Personal Computers)
Ok here is the deal just as the other comment describes this keyboard is just about useless. It appears that you need a massivly out of date PDA for this keyboard to work. Even calling Micro Innovations themselves was a headache. It took a very nice guy 20min to search through their old database just to find the driver for this keyboard (oh and by the way the CD that comes with the Keyboard is blank because its so out of date). Not only that the company gives you a disclaimer that its out of date and you MUST waive any rights to and repercussions that may occur if you attempt to use this keyboard with your PDA (it sounded to me that it wasn't all that great even when it did work).

In any event I also did the stupid thing and it is not worth returning it. Even thought I had a very old Dell PDA with with the 2002 operation system the infa-red is not found. So I too now have a very cool useless folding keyboard. Maybe I will get lucky and it will work with a standard infa-red computer so I can at least get some fun use out of it for kicks.

What the product description fails to mention is that this product was discontinued in 2002. As a result, it is not compatible with today's mobile operating systems. After searching online, I found that this is not just a matter of finding the right driver - the infrared technology of this keyboard simply won't work with most PDA's made in 2004 or later. It's the hardware, not the software. I personally just got a Palm TX and have learned that the Palm OS 5 is completely incompatible with this product. The manufacturer's site even admits that you need a completely different keyboard if you use that system.

I would have given this product one star, but it's just such a cool & compact little unit that I couldn't bring myself not to give it some credit. I would be ecstatic if it worked with my technology or I was packing a more out-dated PDA, but since the cost of shipping would be more than the refund I would get for returning it (I suspect a sneaky ploy on the seller's part; probably trying to clear out their warehouse), I am now the dissapointed owner of a keyboard-shaped paperweight.
