The 4 Port USB Hub & SmartCard Reader/Writer gives your computer four additional USB ports. Self-powered with a SmartCard Reader/Writer, this USB device is perfect for use with a scanner, printer, fax machine, digital camera, mouse, or joystick. The 4 Port USB Hub & SmartCard Reader/Writer is powered directly from the USB port on your computer system so external power is not required. The A/C power adapter has been included to supply power when stacking or connecting additional hubs and/or USB devices or peripherals that may require additional power to function properly. The built-in SmartCard Reader/Writer will act as a removable disk drive allowing you to transfer data between you computer and SmartCard storage devices (media not included).

Although this little guy works very well so far as a SmartMedia card reader, it is not also a 4-port USB hub as advertised. I have not tried the CF reader functionality, as I do not own any CF media.

Plug and play - all I did was insert the USB plug into one of my slots and 10 seconds later it was installed (all by itself - no drivers from the CD needed) and XP prompted for reboot - that was it - 30 seconds and it was done
