I can now connnect a USB Flash Drive while I am using the Keyboard Folio.
S. Hunt
If this review doesn't make you look further, then send me the money and I promise I will put it to better use than sending you a worthless adapter.
Aurelio Bianco
The body feels solid and the female USB end is snug, however the male micro USB end wiggles a good amount when connected to a Xoom.

I read the customer review which stated that the adapter was used with a Nokia N810 to read flash drives. This implies that it is a host adapter, so since I did not see others listed as OTG host adapters I took a chance on it. When I got it and tried it on my Archos A70 it was not able to read flash drives. I decided to disassemble the adapter and when I did, I could tell that pin 4 of the micro USB connector was not connected to ground so it is not a host adapter. I will rewire it and test it out but I am sure it will work.

Please note that the vendor never stated that it was a OTG Host Adapter. So to be fair it works perfectly as advertised. I suspect that the previous reviewer simply got an adapter which was manufactured by a different vendor and was an OTG Host Adapter.

Purchased this to connect a USB keyboard and mouse to my Xoom. The adapter arrived with the USB A side metal bent inward, so any USB plug is a very tight fit. This could easily be corrected with a pair of pliers, but I prefer the connection tight instead of too loose.

If you're buying this for use with a Xoom, be aware that you do need the Android 3.1 update in order to use USB keyboards and mice.

I purchased this thing last year because it was so cheap, but I had an EVO 3D which I knew did not work with this, I was just waiting for when my contract was over I would be able to get a phone that would work with this. There are VERY FEW devices that work with this, as most of them are powered by 3.7 volt batteries, and that has to power the phone itself AND whatever is attatched to it. So, for example, hooking up hard drives to a phone would not work because most hard drives draw 5 volts from the USB and some even draw 12 volts and need two USB's to power them. I was reading an article on CNET of how ****ing AWESOME THIS THING IS WITH THE S3. Remove the spaces in this link to see it:

[...]

Here is a list of device (from a valid source, cnet) that will work with this adapter:

Samsung Galaxy S II (S2)
Samsung Galaxy S III (S3)
Galaxy Nexus*
Galaxy Nexus 7*
Droid RAZR (And the MAXX of course)
Samsung Galaxy Tab
Acer Iconia Tab A200
Acer Iconia Tab A500
Archos G9
Notion Ink Adam
Motorola Xoom
Toshiba Excite 10
Sony Tablet S

So, it's clear that many Android phones lack support for USB host mode. It's possible that OEMs will include the feature in future software updates, but until then, those who want to hook up USB accessories to their unsupported Android devices will have to root.

*Although the Galaxy Nexus family supports many USB accessories, it does not support mass storage devices, like USB thumbdrives.

I ordered this adapter, and another, BECAUSE i needed a non-OTG adapter. When it arrived the first thing I noticed is that I did NOT receive the pictured adapter. There had been a substitution made. That wouldn't be a problem if the substitute adapter was electrically the same as what I had ordered, but it wasn't. What I got was an OTG adapter. You can be sure that I will NEVER order something from the "Crazy-Store" again, because they really are crazy if they think what I ordered and what I received are the same thing. A total waste of time. I AM NOT A HAPPY CAMPER... You have been warned.

If you are getting this to plug a USB drive into your Android device, do some research to make sure that your device can indeed mount flash drives. Works perfectly for its intended use.
