I am an IT Professional who constantly witnesses traveling laptop users who fail to backup their hard disks. This is a slick compact product that works well. To me its best selling feature is the synchronizing software that is included. You set it up how many file versions you wish to keep and when to backup. I setup for a traveling international user so all he had to do was plug the unit in his USB port and it would automatically backup all of his files. The software is intelligent enough to know to backup only files that have changed instead of all data. I would highly recommend this product for the user who is at greater risk for data loss.

I purchased two of these. It really is plug and play. Easy to use. Very acceptable transfer speed. Great product. Completely satisfied.

Ditch the AutoSync software, it is limited in scope and buggy as well. This is your data we're talking about here. Sony just does not do software well (read: "root kit" fiasco).

But the drive itself is excellent, albeit bulkier than I would like (in all fairness it IS miraculously small for a hard drive). You can get greater capacity at USB stick size, but this has faster read/write times than Flash, so that is the tradeoff to keep in mind. I recommend reformatting it to NTFS for increased performance. This may prove tricky at first, but a Google search on the topic should yield helpful clues.

I have had this flash drive for over 30 days and am very satisfied with how it works. I use it to back up my files on 2 different computers. It creates separate directories for each. Therefore I must copy like files from one computer to the other. But this is a small inconvience. The product works as promised.

I use the heck out of the Sony Microvaults. I have two of them. I've had both of them for approx 4 years now, and paid a premium for them when they first came out. The data transfer rate is quick and easy. Note: I do not use the backup software at all.

I really, really like the flip-out design of the USB port itself. I have several computers that will not accommodate certain configurations (bulky or stubby body for the flash drive), and with the flip-out USB port, I don't need to worry about getting the port seated correctly. In my line of work, I transfer files to the Sony Microvaults on a daily basis -- many of them large audio wav files and large data files to go with them.

I also like the black hard case and tether that came with this device. Makes it easy to carry around with you and keeps the device in an impact resistant case.

Why do I have these babies in my arsenal? Call me paranoid, but a wise-wise person told me once, "Turn off the computer after a hard job, think it'll come on in the morning? Do you want to stake your career on it?" Uh, that would be a big fat NO! So, before I turn off my computer and finish a job, I back the job up to "The Vault" for the peace of mind it gives me. Transferring files from desktop, laptops to the Internet is easy with this little device.

I was surprised at the $128 cost. I figured the price would come down. I'll just really take good care of the ones I have for now. I hope Sony continues to design Vaults with the flip-out design.

I had to laugh at the reviewer who complained about the "fingerprints" on the body of the device because it is silver metal . . . be for real!

I found this product to be all I need in backing up my data.It synchronizes my information as soon as I add it or delete it from my harddrive.

Easy to use with quick transfer speeds. Only down side is the chrome casing. Think of the back of the iPOD, chrome with lots of finger prints. Nothing a wipe down can't handle. Relaiable and very compact. Very good buy for anyone who carries around a lot of data. Sure helped me move my Divx files from various computers.

It is so easy to use. With software already preloaded- what could be easier? The speed was very good as well. Extremely portable. I would highly recommend and buy again.

If you need 8 GB portable storage, this is for you. Neat little flash drive, compact, sturdy. Well worth the price and the seller was extremely prompt in getting it out to me.
