5.0 out of 5 stars Great Investment
I purchased this unit through Max Tool back in December. I live in a small apartment with my fiancé and two dogs. This MicroLux air purifier has been one of our best investments. It has completely killed all smells that can come from having dogs. The only complaint I got from my fiancé is that it also killed the smell of our Christmas tree. (but I guess that...

1.0 out of 5 stars Worked great TWICE then DIED
This product worked great the two times we needed it, then when we went to use it a third time we discovered it no longer worked at all, it was completely non-funtional. Because this is not an item to use consistenly I was shocked at the longevity, and then the discovery that it was past the point of return ( bought October 4, 2010)
Would NOT recommend this item...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Investment, February 16, 2011

I purchased this unit through Max Tool back in December. I live in a small apartment with my fiancé and two dogs. This MicroLux air purifier has been one of our best investments. It has completely killed all smells that can come from having dogs. The only complaint I got from my fiancé is that it also killed the smell of our Christmas tree. (but I guess that just means it's working) It's been now two month since I got the purifier and so far not a single problem. It runs over 8 hours a day and keeps the house fresh. The timer is a plus, being able to program what time I want it to start and stop has made it so easy to keep our home odor free. Cleaning the unit is very simple, the back panel pops right off making it easy to access the filters. Overall I am so pleased with this unit and would recommend it to anyone looking for an air purifier.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally A Really Quiet Air Purifier, April 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: MicroLux ML4000D Series Home HEPA Ionic Ozone Generating Air Purifier Cherry (Kitchen)
I've tried at least 5 different brands of HEPA air purifiers (with fan(s)) before finding this one. The number one reason that I disliked all my previous purifiers is NOISE. I'm quite sensitive to certain types of noise, including fan noise. At one point I gave up getting a fanned purifier and got a passive electrostatic-plate purifier for years. However, the passive purifier never works to my expectation (it still works, just not very efficiently).

But after getting a cat for 1.5 yrs, I decided it's really the time to use a more efficient air purifier. After going through many reviews and ratings on Amazon and many other websites, I still bumped into two disappointments (Honeywell HHT-011 and Bionaire BAP-1700) -- it seems that my tolerance of noise is much less than average users. Then I found MicroLux ML4000DCH at the 3rd try. I was very skeptical at the beginning because I can't find any info about MicroLux on the web at all, but due to desperation and reasonable pricing, I still decided to give it a shot -- and so glad that I did. The unit is quiet enough at its lowest setting not to bother me (Bionaire BAP-1700 gave me really weird dreams during sleep; Honeywell HHT-011 was placed away from me in the living room after running it for 5 mins in my bedroom). Moreover, Microlux ML4000 is the only purifier with more than HEPA filter and Ionizer of all three. Plus it has the lowest power consumption.

In short, I would recommend this purifier to anyone with sensitive ears but still wants clean air.

4.0 out of 5 stars Get this if you have funky smells to get rid of...., June 14, 2011

This review is from: MicroLux ML4000D Series Home HEPA Ionic Ozone Generating Air Purifier Cherry (Kitchen)
Ok so we purchased a camp recently and with the funky smells like the must and the old owners must have been addicted to Moth Balls, yuck. I took a chance on buying this unit to help. Wow I was very impressed, we locked up camp and left a ceiling fan on High and put this unit on its highest setting for an entire week. When we returned the high smell of ozone we shut it off and opened all the windows and went for a walk/hike. When we returned it was amazing no stench of any kind. I really recommend this unit.

THE reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because of 1 thing. The Timer is stupid, don't get me wrong it works but only once. For example if I set it to turn on at 1pm it will turn on at 1pm but if I have it turn off at 3pm it will but not daily its only a 1 time timer. I would like to set it daily forever but it doesn't work that way which really confuses me why. So if you buy the unit, and before work you can turn it on and have it turn off whenever but you have to set it each day which is like I said just plain stupid. Maybe the next model will fix this i don't know but other than that I am very pleased with the unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars This unit was one of the best investments I have made !, October 7, 2011

This unit has a lot of features that would make it a very expensive model and yet I got it for 159.00. I have long standing sinus issues related to mold and this along with a few packages of damp rid has stopped by post nasal drip. I guess I didn't realize just how much household mold there is but this thing with the damp rid has been working really well! Highly reccomended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not programable in a practical sense, January 9, 2012

Its a great ozone generator and will really clean out any bad smell very well and quickly. It will actually clean out a 3500 sq ft house (it'll take a while, but it will do it)! It gets 3 stars since the manual is very poorly written, incomplete and wrong and the "timer" functions are almost worthless. You can set a time for it to turn on and you can set a time for it to turn off, but it WONT DO BOTH! So you cant program it for a daily function as you cant set both an on and an off time (only one or the other). The manual says you can use a simple appliance timer to turn it on everyday while you are gone, but thats wrong because once you cut the power to the purifier all the settings are gone and it wont turn back on unless you use the switch.
The ozone plate is not installed when you receive the unit and it isnt in the instructions on how to install it. You're on you to own to figure it out (easy to install, but you have no way of knowing its done right).
If the timer worked and the manual was better written it would get 4 or even 5 stars. Those failings however leave a lot of doubt as to whether the other features really work.
We bought 2 and both work exactly the same.
5/5/2012: I bought a 3rd so I updated the status to 4 stars. If I'm willing to buy another, it must be better than 3 stars despite its failings!

4.0 out of 5 stars Air Purifier Does the Job, October 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: MicroLux ML4000D Series Home HEPA Ionic Ozone Generating Air Purifier Cherry (Kitchen)
i purchased this purifier because of the space size it could clean, its price point compared to other systems and consumer reviews. I can say although it doesn't clean the entire 1900 sq. ft. space all at once, it does a great job in the space I really needed it. We live in a loft apartment with 20 ft. ceilings so that's a lot of air to cycle through. It sits right where we stand to smoke out the window, and the area always smells clean and fresh, which is what I wanted. It is easy to assemble, and runs very quietly. We've been operating it continuously since it arrived, and we did not see a dramatic increase in our electric bill, which was also really important. All in all, for the price, it is a great buy, and we are very happy with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply The Best, December 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: MicroLux ML4000D Series Home HEPA Ionic Ozone Generating Air Purifier Cherry (Kitchen)
I used to be an EcoQuest distibutor, and this purifer is not only better, it's priced almost $600 less. The EQ FreshAir also costs $199 plus shipping to have rebuilt-even for me. I tell all my old clients to toss them and buy this one new.
EQ has again changed their name to Volara. This MicorLux is better built and even has it's own version of the mouch touted RCI (Radiant Ctalytic Ionization) process,
I have heard that these are made by the original inventor of the Living Air/Fresh Air system, but I have no first hand knowledge of this. I wouldn't doubt it though.
Buy a couple now for fear thast the price will go up more. They used to be $149.

Does the job and there really are 7 filters. Makes home smell fresh, like after a thunderstorm. Booklet that comes with it was written by non-English speaker and has little help for installing the ceramic filter. Installing the ceramic plate is easy--just remove all the filters by taking out the four finger-screws in the back--the ceramic filter goes in vertically in the slots. Also there is a tiny master on-off switch on the back near the bottom... if you don't turn this on the machine won't work. The machine requires a grounded plug and using it with a non-grounded plus invalidates the warrantee. My box came almost destroyed, but it was triple packed--two well designed boxes in a third sloppily packed Amazon box--it was fine though. For the price it is an excellent machine.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this., November 4, 2011

Ok, so I know it is so bad to smoke, but I do. A lot. But I hate it so much when my house smells. Now, it doesn't completly get rid of the smoke smell, but it sure does help. In fact if I put it on the purify and "ozone" setting, the smell is almost completely gone in a couple hours. I also like the way it looks, kind of like some sort of old timey radio. The cons to it are a little petty: the directions are almost non existent, and I am not sure how to clean it or take care of it. I hated to spend so much money, but I think it is worth it. It is a lot cheaper than the other ozone machines online. So, yah overall a good product.

I live with four dogs at any one time, and now being in florida with carpeting, the dander and hair sticks around alot longer than with hardwood.....I'd begun to have trouble with allergies, and after purchasing my HEPA filter air purifier, life is good again! The air smells fresh and clean and i'm not unsure of having company over anymore for fear of that "doggy smell" lingering. I'm SO GLAD I bought this!!
