I bought this device to scare away raccoons who were using my deck every night for a latrine. It works! I set it on the lower volume so that the noise would not disturb my neighbors at night. We can hear the higher volume from inside of our kitchen next to the deck from about 15 feet away, so it's pretty loud. We can also hear it from our bedroom right off of the deck. The sound is relatively crisp and clean (a little raspy, but overall better than expected). Sounds can be played in sequential order or one sound can be played repeatedly.

Update: Our clever raccoons were smart enough to get around the view field, so I bought another one and cross-positioned them to cover more area. That did the trick!

INSTRUCTIONS & COMPUTER EXPERIENCE
One thing I really liked about this item is that it came with good instructions! Easy-to-follow instructions made the setup quick & painless. You don't have to be a computer whiz to figure it out, but you do need the right adapter & microSD card. You'll need a basic understanding of how to download sound files onto your computer.

STUFF YOU'LL NEED
1. You will need a microSD card to plug into the device to upload noise /song files. You can find them on Amazon or buy one at Radio Shack like I did.
$6.59 from Amazon Prime Kingston 8 GB microSDHC Class 4 Flash Memory Card SDC4/8GBET
$9.99 from Radio Shack

2. To get noise/song files from your computer to the microSD card, you'll need an adapter, either a USB to microSD cable or a microSD to regularSD adapter like I used ($9 at Radio Shack). My Macbook has a regularSD slot.

Quick service and delivery, shipped within a day of the order. Packaged well and delivered via USPS. The print documentation that came with the player is clear, concise, and written in English (not translated to English); as such the directions were easy to follow. The device has 6 audio files installed - these describe the tool in plain language and give some additional instruction on usage. While the player's dimensions were listed on the Amazon page, it really is smaller than I expected, I was a bit concerned as to how loud this would be. When I created my .mp3 file (am using for Halloween) I was concerned that the audio would be soft but even on the low setting this unit can blast out loud and clear, so don't underestimate volume when you are making/preparing your audio file. What wasn't clear from the Amazon page is how the micro SD card is used. It seems to imply that a file is read from the SD card but actually the audio file is only copied from the SD card to the internal memory. You insert the card and then remove it once the audio file is downloaded. No worries, the included documentation does clearly explain the process. However, there should also be a way to install an audio file via the mini-USB port on the player. I have a less expensive and quite basic motion activated player that I've had for years, but it only has a 10 second memory. I put a 35 second file on this player without issue. In addition, the motion activation is a true motion detector, not a "change in lighting" sensor that functions sort of like a motion detector. That means you can use this in the dark. In summary, this is a small, powerful, solid player that seems to work exceptionally well. This is my initial assessment, if it stops working I will update the review but for now, this is a great buy and worth the price.

I tried two other Amazon similar units that didn't sound very good nor would they record from my computer.

The cool thing about this unit is you can load an MP3 to it. The sound turned out really good. The speaker does a great job too. It's no subwoofer but you can hear things clear and it gets pretty loud.

I would recommend this product.

I'll probably buy more soon.

I got this as a gift, and preloaded it with assuming sounds. THe process works fine, though I did go out of my way to find an ancient 128MB mini SD card just to be safe. So, I'm not sure if this works with larger size cards. THe internal memory is the limiting factor anyway, so be sure to read the directions before trying to put on songs. File size and audio length are limited I believe, for each sound clip.I downloaded a free music editor I found online to due some trimming.

The unit itself is compact enough, feels solid, and has performed well intesting. It would be great to have an easier process from swapping audio, and more capacity / features, but alas, it is what it is, and for the money, it seems like a good value. I wasn't able to find anything similar in the same price category.

I loaded up some MP3 files and it will play them when it detects motion.

But I could not get it to change from playing one sound (single mode) to playing all (sequential mode), nothing would change the mode. I followed the directions many time and tried alternatives but it won't change the mode.

Also it was hard to reload new sounds. They would just not load again like they did the first time.

I emailed the company but got no reply, poor support.

It's a nice product but a bit flaky.
