5.0 out of 5 stars great learning aid March 19, 2003
By A Customer
This is a great learning tool to help memorize key microbes and other needed material. Visual learning is so much easier and more fun because facts stick to your brain more. I also used the following which is also sold on
Microbiology Study Guide: Key Review Questons and Answers (ISBN: 0971999635)
The second book helped me to know the kind of questions to prepare for on my exams. I am a undergraduate student and found both books very helpful. In fact, I got a 93 average in my college microbiology class.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great introduction to microbiology December 19, 1999
By A Customer
A wonderful introduction to the complicated subject of microbiology! For all levels from middle school through graduate school. The coloring, as promised, is highly effective for reinforcement and retention. It makes the subject fun (and easy!)

4.0 out of 5 stars Good if you have it, but not necessary August 14, 2002
It is a great book if you like the idea of coloring (or you liked when you were in kindergarden) and also the theorical information at the side of each slide is very helpful when studying the subject. It is a good addition to your library, but if you'd have to buy a companion to your classes, buy "Clinical Microbiology Made Ridiculously Simple" by Gladwin and Tattler. In short, a good book that makes the subject more interesting.

I took microbiology and anatomy at the same time. I used coloring books in both classes and they were a big help. The only complaint I have about the microbiology book is that the paper is thin, lighter than the paper stock used in the anatomy coloring book. I placed a paper between the pages so the markers didn't bleed onto the next plate, but you could see the colors through the page and sometimes it was distracting trying to read the information on the page. I tried coloring with pencils and it worked out fine, it just takes longer to use pencils as opposed to markers.

I highly recommend the book if you are a visual and tactile learner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent study tool February 3, 2008
By Jenny
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I'm new to Microbiolgy and didn't know where or how to start studying. My textbook was just too huge. I felt a little silly ordering a coloring book but it has become a great way for me to flesh out key concepts and become familiar with the vocabulary.

Each drawing comes with a detailed and easy to read description on the opposing page. Something about reading a paragraph and then coloring in the applicable section makes the information easy to understand.

It's also a great way to get a little quick studying done. Each picture can be colored and reviewed in about 15 minutes (although I take a little longer just to really absorb the material).

Thanks for the great book! I've already ordered the Physiology and Anatomy coloring books to use next semester.

3.0 out of 5 stars Its helpful, but not as good as other coloring books February 18, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
After using the Anatomy and Physiology coloring books, when I got to Micro I thought, I need this. The coloring books in general are VERY helpful. I am a visual learner, so this helps me follow confusing concepts easily. The Microbiology book is somehow, lacking explanation on the coloring pages in my opinion. It has lengthy explanations on the left page, but sometimes it seems that you can't follow as easily which is the reason I purchase the books.
