Very good reference for microbiology,
By A Customer
This review is from: Microbiology (Essentials) (Paperback)
I studied this book for my undergraduate microbiology class. It helped because it got to the point was nice and concise. It focused on some important topics. It is easy to understand and keeps your attention. I also used the following which is on amazon:Microbiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers by Patrick Leonardi The latter book was very good and a must buy because it helped me to get very good grades on my microbiology tests. Plus, it helped to eliminate some of the surprise questions that my teacher through on the test. I would defintely recommend both books for any undergraduate student taking a microbiology class. Both books are 5 stars.

It has some good general information, but is out of date in several major ways. Does not include any information regarding Domains, poor job describing charactoristics defing bacteria.

My college professor suggested this as a supplement to our learning in the class. It was not mandatory to have, however it highlighted the important information from our book that he would be teaching. Having passed the class already, I took it again to improve my grade. This book, along with hours of studying, additional teacher-student instruction, and little social life for a semester helped me achieve a full letter grade improvement. I paid around 6 bucks for it. Definately worth it for ANY microbiology student. Get it before class starts.
