About the Author
Barry Batzing is a strong author who has focused his career on microbiology education. While at State University of New York-Cortland (Ph.D., microbiology, Penn State), Barry has received the highest teaching honor in the SUNY system, the Chancellor's Award. He has been an active participant in a variety of microbiology education functions, having received a number of NSF grants for microbial education, served on the Editorial board for Applied Microbiology Journal, and published THE MICROBES.

This is a great microbiology book, it would be an A-1 microbiology book if it included what bipolar-staining was also. It includes gram neg. & gram pos. staining, but lacks the other type. Yeah yeah, I know, a book can't include everything. Just saying is all :)

This book is well organized and very detailed with lots of examples and visuals to support and bolster the understanding of readers. Very much recommended for people interested in microbiology, as it does not require a great understanding of biology beforehand.
