GET THOSE DERMATOPHAGOIDES SPP. OFF ME!!!!,
By RP McMurphy "RP" (Colorado) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Microbiology Recall (Recall Series) (Paperback)
Because of this amazing review guide, in just a few days, I went from having a totally irrational fear of microbes to having a very real and rational fear of microbes that is completely grounded in scientific fact. But at least now I have all the information at my fingertips. And it was surprisingly easy to learn and recall after reading this book only once. The other people in the sanitarium are totally blown away! Thanks, Alfa Omar Diallo!

Easy To Grasp,
This review is from: Microbiology Recall (Recall Series) (Paperback)
The information in this book was given in an especially clear and unambiguous fashion. The distinction between gram-positive cocci and gram-negative cocci was easy to grasp. The pictures were great and straightforward to identify what the author was trying to convey. Fungal infections were rather disturbing. Yuck! Then again I have to say that the diagrams were quite good including. Other needed references for test preparation were Clinical Microbiology Made Ridiculously Simple
by Mark Gladwin. Microbiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers by Patrick Leonardi. For Pathology, Pathology Recall by Anikar Chhabra.

Time Saver and Great Reference,
By
This review is from: Microbiology Recall (Recall Series) (Paperback)
This book is thorough, to the point and a great reference for anyone studying bacteriology, virology and other microbiology topics. It definitely saved me time thumbing through large virology and bacteriology textbooks to find the facts I needed to know. Because the chapters are short and concise, I could read the whole chapter quickly and get all the information I needed. It's designed to assist in memorization of facts which is so often required in such studies. The book is not only a great study guide but a great addition to any microbiologist's library.

BETTER THAN ANY MICRO REVIEW BOOK!!!,
By JMV (Florida) - See all my reviews

Microbiology Recall is AMAZING!
The question and answer format is perfect for those of you who don't have enough time to study every subject in depth, but at the same time want to LEARN THE MOST IN THE LEAST AMOUNT OF TIME. The diagrams are very simple and self explanatory. The way the chapters are organized and interconnected along with the many pictures makes things very easy to understand. The layout is great to study by yourself or with friends, to study for classes or for boards. I've used other microbiology review books and this one is by far my favorite! THIS IS A MUST HAVE!

I hate memorizing details. This book is perfect for students like myself who don't enjoy endlessly memorizing random details. It has a great question prompt (with the answer across the way on the page) format to facilitate learning and memorization. Very high yield.

Microbiology Recall,
By Audry H "microfiend" (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Microbiology Recall (Recall Series) (Paperback)
I am horrible at reviews, so bear with me. This is a great book. I used it in school and I now use it at work in my microbiology lab. I work in clinical microbiology and I have access to many micro books in my lab. This book in particular is used so often by my co-workers and myself that it never gets dusty. The organisms are easy to find with the contents and the index. The descriptions for each are excellent containing a colony morphology as well as gram stain description, patient symptoms and possible infections that the microbe could cause. It is easy to read and contains some color photographs of the organism itself, or of the patient symptoms for those who may not be familiar to them. There are some main biochemicals included in the organism description which help with identification. It is basically a review of things, not complete, but it has all of the main things to help jump start your brain and start diagnosis or to just help a student to remember certain facts or characteristics about microbes. I highly recommend this book to students studying microbiology as well as those involved in clinical microbiology.

WONDERFUL!!!!,
By R S "Roxana" (Maryland, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Microbiology Recall (Recall Series) (Paperback)
This book is organized in a manner that makes it a key tool for understanding and learning the material.
Each chapter is thorough....yet short enough...that one can cover a vast amount of material - AND learn it - in almost no time at all. Definitely a MUST HAVE for all students in a micobiology course!!!

Great for Micro courses, not so much for USMLE,
This review is from: Microbiology Recall (Recall Series) (Paperback)
Great book. I am only giving it four stars because it's not in board-style question format. For that, just get the Pre-Test Microbiology book and you're covered in all directions. This book is more helpful for testing your knowledge of the characteristics of the microbes, for example when being tested in a Microbiology course. Can't see myself using this for the USMLE (although there are some helpful mnemonics and memory devices/tips highlighted throughout with a USMLE icon) but so far has been helpful in my Micro course (medical school). If I can just remember to use it!

Joe somebody's opinion...,
By Joe (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Microbiology Recall (Recall Series) (Paperback)
I got the book because a uber-nerd classmate of mine was ranting and raving about it. Micro is not a forté at my school so this cleared up some salient points that have come up on quizzes. I was surprised to see that the book was pretty overseeable and well-organized. I use my classnotes primarily but this supplemented it well and allowed me to quiz myself at the end of studying for the day ... anyways back to board studying....
