5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended!!!, July 7, 2009
This review is from: 5 Steps to a 5 AP Microeconomics/Macroeconomics, 2008-2009 Edition (5 Steps to a 5 on the Advanced Placement Examinations Series) (Paperback)
I got this book to, obviously, prepare me for the AP Econ exams. What I like about this book is that it is very easy to read and the author does a great job keeping the reader focused with his humor and mnemonics. For instance, if the Fed wants to increase the supply of money circulated, the Fed would buy bonds: "Buy Bonds = Bigger Bucks."

I took a look at the Princeton Review version at my local borders (I actually compared the two). I get very meticulous when comparing due to my OCD. I didn't like the Princeton Review version because it didn't engage me as much as 5-steps. 5-Steps dedicated each chapter to a particular section, which made it very easy for me to organize the information in my head! The quizzes and key terms after each chapter also helps with retaining the information. Also, the test-taking strategy in the beginning and in the answers after taking the practice exams are very helpful. I like how it stresses on drawing BIG, easy-to-read graphs over writing long, time-consuming paragraphs.

I don't ever take the time to write reviews, but I felt guilty not to for this book after receiving my score yesterday (I got a 5!!!). That is one-less class I need to take at Wharton!!!

My son used this book while studying for the AP Micro and Macro exams. He found it to be very well organized, with helpful information, useful practice problems, and great explanations. He felt like this book provided excellent preparation for both AP tests. He scored a 5 on both tests! Highly recommended! He also used the Princeton Review AP guide but felt that the 5 steps book was more helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars informative and well-written, March 12, 2009

the style in which this book is written reads easily because it is entertaining yet at the same time is full of information. the graphs do get a bit old and seem overly simplistic at times, but as far as the illustration of concepts is concerned they are effective. not a bad investment if you plan to take the AP exam or just refresh your memory of economics.
