The Microlife Heart Rate Monitor Wrist Watch works like a standard sports watch and provides fast, accurate heart rate readings. It is designed to be convenient and easy to use , so that you can wear it all day, every day, just as you would any other watch. How the Microlife Heart Rate Monitor Watch Works: Patented S-Pulse technology measures the electronic signals passing through your body that result from the beating of your heart. You may be familiar with the EKG waveform, either from personal experience while at the hospital, or from popular television medical shows. It's this same signal that is picked up and measured by the S-Pulse technology. Any other heart rate monitor without this technology cannot offer you the accuracy or the ease of use that the S-Pulse gives you. This EKG measurement is obtained when you place two fingers from one hand on the two sensors on the top of the watch attached to your opposite arm. This creates a loop across your body that the watch can now read. The Heart Rate Monitor Watch must be properly attached to your wrist in order for the Heart Rate monitor function to work. The Full Size watch fits medium to large wrists (5 3/4" to 8 1/4"). Displays time in 12 or 24 hour mode, optional beeper and alarm. Easy to use heart rate monitor allows you to enter target heart rate zone, age and gender for highest accuracy. Chronograph Countdown Timer. Requires no chest strap.

One month after receiving as a Christmas gift, it became difficult to obtain a heart rate reading. When one was obtained it was ~30% lower than the actual pulse rate. The heart monitor function had worked well the first month.

The accompanying manual is from "Sportline" for a Solo 910 model. Looking at the referenced site in the manual ([..]), the Solo 910 model shown there is not this watch. Looking that the microlife site ([..]) referred to on the packaging, there is no reference to heart monitors. It is hard to know just what you're getting. My watch was not purchased through Amazon. Maybe your luck via them will be better.

This watch is great because its accurate and doesn't require a chest strap. My boyfriend wears it to the gym all the time and it really helps monitor your heartrate! The full size is perfect for a man's wrist.
