The Microlife Heart Rate Monitor Wrist Watch works like a standard sports watch and provides fast, accurate heart rate readings. It is designed to be convenient and easy to use , so that you can wear it all day, every day, just as you would any other watch. How the Microlife Heart Rate Monitor Watch Works: Patented S-Pulse technology measures the electronic signals passing through your body that result from the beating of your heart. You may be familiar with the EKG waveform, either from personal experience while at the hospital, or from popular television medical shows. It's this same signal that is picked up and measured by the S-Pulse technology. Any other heart rate monitor without this technology cannot offer you the accuracy or the ease of use that the S-Pulse gives you. This EKG measurement is obtained when you place two fingers from one hand on the two sensors on the top of the watch attached to your opposite arm. This creates a loop across your body that the watch can now read. The Heart Rate Monitor Watch must be properly attached to your wrist in order for the Heart Rate monitor function to work. The Mid Size watch fits small to medium wrists (5" to 7 1/2"). Displays time in 12 or 24 hour mode, optional beeper and alarm. Easy to use heart rate monitor allows you to enter target heart rate zone, age and gender for highest accuracy. Chronograph Countdown Timer. Requires no chest strap.

I was unable to get the pulse rate monitor to work for me. I called the Microlife home office and followed their instructions and the monitor still would not work. They suggested I send the monitor back to Amazon.com which I have done. I am disappointed that it did not function for me. It is a nice looking monitor and my Doctor had suggested I obtain one with the EKG technology. Thank ypu. PLD.

The heart rate monitor seems to work best if your skin is damp. Under drier conditions you will need to dampen your fingertips before touching the contacts; otherwise the readings may be inaccurate(unusually high.) Contacts are in an awkward position...a more ergonomic position would be at the "2 o'clock" and "7 o'clock" postitions. The straps do not seem proportional(too small)to the size of the watch. The sound alerts are almost inaudible, unless you have the watch within 6" from your ear.

This the second Microlife watch I've bought. The pulse readings are very accurate (I've checked them against doctor measurements and store machine measurements). Only reason for having to buy a new watch was that the wrist band on the first watched rotted, and unfortunately it's a custom band and I couldn't get a new one at a watch store.
