Editorial Reviews

Product Description

After moshing through Girls Love Breakcore (2007) and dancing though the techno Disko Donkey (2006), Mochipet is back with an army of MCs, hell bent on bringing the Hip Hop genre to whole new levels creativity. Microphonepet is a collection of Mochi-Beats (2003-2008) matched with notable MCs such as Casual & Opio (Hieroglyphics), Raashan (Crown City Rockers), Mykah9 (Freestyle Fellowship) Dopestyle (Kutmaster Kurt), RQM (Al Haca), Jahcoozi, 215TFK and Kutti MC to combine elements of Glitch, Dubstep, Jazz, Funk, Afrobeat, and Computer Rock to bring you something entirely different. The results will have Club Kids rocking out to Miles Davis and Backpackers picking up Roland TB-303s. This is Hybrid-Hip-Hop on Platypus Party Acid Baby!

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid album..., April 1, 2008

This review is from: Microphonepet (MP3 Download)
After downloading the track "Get Your Whistle Wet" off a blog, I was determined to get more from Mochipet. When I listen to the album, artists like TTC and eDIT come to mind as far as musical references...a blend of electronic/glitch and hip hop. This album is good one overall; it's solid, slap-you-upside-the-head dope goodness. The beats, the rapping, the electronic components are all pretty tight. It will never quite have the crossover appeal of MIA, but hip hop 'heads will like it as well as ex ravers. There aren't any blow your mind tracks(maybe "Get Your Whistle Wet") but there aren't really any crappy tracks either, just a nice consistency. If you're a sucker for the phat beatz, this one's for you.
