5.0 out of 5 stars The best of the best !
This Grater is honestly the best of the best.
Very rarely does one come across an item online that performs as it claims it's capable of. This item out performs what it claims.
I have used this item for a solid week on everything from Lime and lemon peels to make Lemon Souffle, Lime Merengue and even to spice up my boring cheesecake with lime and almond zest...

3.0 out of 5 stars Too Sharp?
I purchased this because it looked heavy duty and need it for restaurant work. I used to own a regular microplane that is thinner, but I ended up bending the metal back while grating Parmesan. This microplane feels comfortable and has a sturdy rubber surface, but if you need to zest a citrus fruit, think again. The fine spice cutters grabs (can't make a full motion across...

You will not find a flaw with this product.
It's stainless and it feels solid. I cannot get over the quality and the Fit and Finish of this item.
I had never known what I was missing in terms of flavor until I tried this zester. It really shines !
I have even begun to put Orange peal zest into teas to flavor once boring tea into a colorful and aromatic beverage.
Please, if you're considering a less costly zester and are unsure, buy this one.
I'm putting these in my culinary inclined family member's stockings for Christmas !

5.0 out of 5 stars Microplane Professional Patented Design Fine Spice Grater, December 27, 2007
This review is from: Microplane 38004 Professional Fine Spice Grater (Kitchen)
Our daughter is in a 4-year Culinary Management College and wanted a microplane as part of her Christmas gift. Once I began looking, the options were endless. I chose this particular item because of the width, the fact that it was all metal, and had a curve to the piece. Our daughter loves it, liked the size and said it will be perfect to add to her culinary equipment.
Delivery was timely and packaging was excellent.

This is a perfect grater, several classes better than the one with the plastic handle (I had that first, but the handle couldn't bear the force and broke).
This one has no such problems and the rubber anti-slip band helps a lot

Glad I got the stainless pro series as a friend has one of the plastic handle ones and it is pretty much toast after 3 months of heavy use.

This is indeed a very fine grater and almost too fine for some things like chocolate. It makes a nearly powered chocolate that is great for decorating and making hand truffles but too fine for most things. Romano and Parmigiano are also very fine and not really suitable for antipasto or garnishes. But it does blend into sauces very quickly and is worth the extra effort for some at least. It is also the only grater I have tried that does Rachellte. Only useful for special purposes like zesting, but where it is suitable its the best way to go.

The Microplane Professional Patented Design Coarse Grater is more general purpose and better for most things.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best of the best, July 16, 2007
This review is from: Microplane 38004 Professional Fine Spice Grater (Kitchen)
When my food processor quit working, I replaced it with a set of Microplane graters (the 35000 series). At the time I placed my order, I didn't know about Microplane's professional graters (the 38000 series). However, after using them, I was so impressed that I sent the 35000 series to my daughter and ordered the professional 38000 series for myself.

I do a lot of cooking, so I know these graters are going to get a lot of use. I'm in no mood to buy another food processor, as I rarely used the one I had and a food processor takes up a lot of valuable kitchen storage space. The Microplane graters, on the other hand, fit neatly inside a drawer and have protective covers on them.

I'm giving the 38000 series graters a 5-star rating because they're better quality than the 35000 series graters and look like they'll last longer. They are very sharp and do an extremely effective job. I especially appreciate the sliding hand guard. I very seriously doubt I'd use a tool as sharp as this without something to protect my hands.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now I love zesting, May 29, 2009

This really is not just a highly functional, but also a beautiful kitchen item. I used to dread having to zest anything, but now that I have this grater I actually like zesting. The slight curve makes it a easy to zest round items like lemons, limes or oranges. The handle feels very solid. The sharpness makes for ease of grating, but also makes the cover a welcome addition. It's definitely worth the price. I'm very happy with this purchase and wish I'd had it sooner.

I just received it. I immediate try to make some orange zest. It is effortless to make orange zest with this grater. It won't even get the the white part of the skin. The zest is very fine. I got plenty of orange zest. Now i can try my cheesecake recipe again that called for lemon zest. I blame the cheapo walmart brand grater for my failure making cheesecake last time :D
I think this grater will last for a lifetime. It feels very sturdy.

Bought this for my wife and she loves it. Has been used to zest lemons and oranges and on cinnamon sticks and nutmeg and has performed beautifully. She has not used it for grating cheese yet but is sure she'll be pleased with the results. Loves the protective cover while not in use. Cleans up nicely - she prefers to hand wash and dry immediately so can't comment about cleaning in the dishwasher. Great price and received quickly. Our daughter tried it out while home for Christmas and now wants one for herself! Would highly recommend for anyone who loves using great made kitchen gadgets.

I tried this out right after I opened the box. TERRIFIC! This plane doesn't yield the texture of canned ground nutmeg, but it is fine enough for me, this is a multipurpose use item, and it wasn't as expensive as some of the better nutmeg grinders.
