Amazing Grater!,

I totally love this grater. I got it for a gift over two years ago and it still looks like new. It turns the hardest cheese into soft fine threads. It is so quick and fast to use but my favorite is how incredibly easy it is to clean up. And they make great gifts! I just bought one for a friend who was impressed with it when she was visiting. Best grater I have ever owned hands down.

Excellent grater,

I have been very happy with this cheese grater. We use the finer drum for romano or parmesan and the coarser drum for cheddar and it works really well for both. Overall, I've foudn it well made and well designed.

I have used lots of different types of graters for hard cheese and chocolate and this works better than anything I have tried in the past. I even grated a fine shred on a piece of parmesan cheese I found in the drawer in my fridge that was old and as hard as a block of wood. The cheese grated light and fluffy and tasted great.

I always looked longingly at the cheese graters at restaurants (I know, get a life) and how easy they seemed to grate cheese. I settled for either the stuff in the green can (well, my kids did--I'd rather do without!) or the already-grated stuff from the deli section at the market ($$). The green-can company actually came out with a disposable grater with a chunk of parmesan in it that you used and then threw away, which I LOVED! That meant, of course, that it was destined to be discontinued (it was). I just didn't want to pay a lot of money for a grater only to find out it wasn't that great. I finally thought, "well, you get what you pay for," so I bought this one from Amazon. I love it! I've only used it to grate parmesan cheese, but it does that very well. You don't need to squeeze the handle, just hold it lightly and it applies enough pressure to the cheese to grate it. I actually leave a piece of parmesan in it and put it in the fridge cheese drawer in a large Ziploc bag so it's ready to use. Downside to that is that I grate cheese on EVERYTHING now! The beautiful red color is a bonus.

We had a cheese grater for many years and it irritated me for all those years! Now we have this Micro-plane and it could not be any easier to keep clean and to use! I would recommend it to anyone!

This works GREAT. The blades are very easy to change. They grate cheese with very little effort. I used Parmigiano Reggiano, which is a very hard cheese and this grater grated it like it was a soft cheese. I bought the red grater and it's a pretty deep red color...very nice. If you need a grater, try this one. I like it. It does exactly what it's suppose to do...grate cheese EASILY.

Works well until the plastic breaks,

We have had two of these. The blades are incredibly sharp and they grate the cheese extremely well ... until the plastic on the pusher or the crank handle breaks. The same blades with a stronger body would be an incredible product, but we won't get another, until Microplane changes the design.

The grater works reasonable well with a hard cheese, but it is pretty useless with a soft cheese. The grater is designed so that the handle is detachable from the grating drum. It might be a good idea for clean up, but is not such a good idea when you are using the grater and the handle comes off in your hand. I think I'll try a different brand.

We use the grater to grate parmesan for both recipe ingredients and at the table directly on serving plates. It does a very good job of producing lots of grated cheese quickly with little effort. I like that the grating cylinder can be inserted on the left or right, making it comfortable for all to use.
Construction feels a bit flimsy so I treat it gently, but no failures have occurred in a year's weekly use. The grater disassembles easily for clean up. Cold water seems to work best to keep cheese remnants from sticking.

Not the same as Mouli,

I got this as a replacement for a Mouli-I may have misread the desctiption but to agree that on hard substancss like parmesan it workes well but but is totally inadequate for softer cheeses like "cheddar leaving one with a more "congealed" mess--I can't fault the product for what it is supposed to do but that it is inadequate if one is looking for a standard grater or to not use a box grater.
