I used to love The Universe series but it is feeling more dumbed down lately. I really prefer How the Universe Works.

This is a very interesting series. I enjoy the information, however I am very frustrated with the recent shift in repeating content. You know what I mean, after every commercial break they spend a minute repeating what was going on before the commercial. So even though this doesn't have commercials, it's very obvious where they would be in the show. You have a one hour show, take away 20 minutes for commercials, take away another 10 minutes of repeated content and you end up with only a half hour of content.

These are just a few of the countless reasons why I love this show, and think you guys will, too! I does get a little technical/geeky at certain points, but my wife and I adore this show, and have for many years. The scientists (Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Michio Kaku), featured on the show are really on the cutting edge of cosmology, and their insights help divulge what secrets the universe has hidden. Appropriate for all ages, I highly recommend it!

This video presents the wonderful, entertaining, beautiful, and scientifically accurate description of the Universe. With beautiful and detailed astronomical depictions of the history of the Universe along with well defined and detailed descriptions of the same, this video earns the appropriate description of an artistic, scientific, and video masterpiece.

One of the best episodes in this series is the one depicting the problems members of a space expedition to Mars might face upon landing, and how they would have to rely on their own resources and ingenuity to survive. Having the astronauts work thru the different scenarios conveys a bunch of information about Mars survival in a hugely entertaining way.

It's no "Cosmos" by any means. Quite overdramatized and more focused on wowing/scaring viewers than relating scientific discovery. It's Okay.

If you are a total science buff or just sort of interested this series is a marvelous way to understand and enjoy the universe we live in. Well narrated and with many appearances by my favorite theoretical physicist Michio Kaku the episodes are fascinating and entertaining. There are no naked idiots off to prove who knows what, it is filled with spectacular sights and gives a great sense of the power of creation.
