Editorial Reviews

Review

This practical how-to manual for programming in Access 2010 using VBA XML and ASP introduces concepts with multi-step, illustrated, and hands-on exercises with 275 applied examples and 10 projects designed to let the reader quickly build solutions using Data Access Objects (DAO), ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) and SQL. 33 chapters progressively introduce concepts that build on skills used in previous chapters to use both the latest version of Access as well as earlier versions to integrate Access with web displays, import data and to write and debug queries, routines and functions. Other topics include templates, macros and customizing interfaces. The guide includes a CD-ROM with source code and supplemental files for projects.

This book will take you beyond the 'snippets' of VBA you have been writing in Access and move you into actual modules. Priceless if you are trying to move into a world where your constructs are MORE like a true program with a database attached. I have been impressed by this author's books.

I've started building an Access app for my company about six months ago. (I had no clue of what Access even was at the time!) Since, I have become very familiar with the workings of Access and am ready to go to the next level. We'll see! I'm about 100 pages in and the lessons are thorough and easy to follow. The lessons have already answered numerous questions I didn't know I needed to ask! If you are already familiar with Access and need a VBA boost, I would say get this book.

I enjoy a good technical publication when it's articulated based on reality and not class room idealistic scenarios. This book does present the material systematically, and does make practical use of the Application's features, functions and methods and explains properties, and classes.
