Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Welcome to the office of the future! Microsoft Office 2000 has many new features, and sorting them out can be a challenge without a guidebook. Pick up the Microsoft Office 2000 Bible and get the word on Word, access to Access, and lots more. It's a comprehensive tome aimed at beginners and intermediate users, as well as more advanced folks who just want the dirt on the new stuff and plan to study in depth later.

From its pull-out "Quick Start" booklet through its advanced chapters on macros, collaboration, and document integration, you'll find plenty of information on how to make this application suite meet all of your needs. Lengthy sections on Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook are complemented by easy organization, clear writing, good illustrations, and strong cohesion to form a good working reference.

Publisher and FrontPage, as well as advanced material like Visual Basic for Applications, don't get as much space, so if you're destined for Web work or programming, you might want to consider another general title, or at least one specific to the application you'll be using. But if you want a good introduction to the most used parts of Office 2000, this book and CD-ROM (containing templates, documents, searchable text, and utilities galore) will serve you well. --Rob Lightner

5.0 out of 5 stars Used is an excellent buy!, March 8, 2003

Although I have not read through the book completely, I have found that what I have read to be most informative and helpful to myself as well as the adults I teach Office 2000 to.

I have always found the "Bible" books to give you a bit more insight into the subject matter.

You will not regret this purchase!

3.0 out of 5 stars Too expensive, but of possible use..., May 11, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Microsoft® Office 2000 Bible (Paperback)
I got this mainly for the information about Outlook and while the book is by no means useless, it is also disappointing. It's not consistent with Outlook 2000 Corporate or Workgroup (it can still help but the examples and screenshots are not entirely appropriate) and there are errors in the book, as well as downright bad English. Still, if you can get it cheap or for free, it might be worth something.
