This should have been the manual,
By Rosario Lucasster (Tucson, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Microsoft® Office PowerPoint® 2003 Step by Step (Step By Step (Microsoft)) (Paperback)
This is certainly as dry as a computer manual, so Microsoft could have included this as at least a PDF with PowerPoint. So did not do that and now they want you to buy this separately. That itself is reason to not buy this book and look at other alternatives.
My favorite others are: How To Do Everything with PowerPoint 2003 Cutting Edge PowerPoint for Dummies PowerPoint 2003 Visual Quickstart Guide

Basic Windows Information, not just Basic Powerpoint,
By A Customer
This review is from: Microsoft® Office PowerPoint® 2003 Step by Step (Step By Step (Microsoft)) (Paperback)
I'm fairly dissapointed by this book, as a lot of it is not just basic instruction for how to use Powerpoint, but also how to use any other Microsoft Office program. I got halfway through before I found anything that I didn't already know just from using Word and Excel. This book is for someone with practically NO knowledge of computers, period.

I purchased this book because I had no experience with PowerPoint. I wanted to do a presentation for my mother's birthday. This book is fantastic and cheaper than taking a class. It helped me to turn out a presentation that everyone raved about with the fancy slide transitions, colors, photos, and sound effects. My brother an advanced user complimented me stating he thought I was ready for an advanced level.

Great book if you are new to PowerPoint,

This review is from: Microsoft® Office PowerPoint® 2003 Step by Step (Step By Step (Microsoft)) (Paperback)
This book is written for beginners of this program and is not very good if you are already experienced in using the software or are looking for advanced topics. I bought this book because I never user PowerPoint before and when I started my Bachelors degree program I was required to do presentations in class with PowerPoint slides and other visual displays so I had to learn it quickly. This book gave me the knowledge needed to get the job done and look professional but if you are looking for advanced topics like ASP.NET intergration or other advanced topics you might want to take a look at the Inside Out series of books or the PowerPoint 2003 Bible.

Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 Step by Step This is a good book for an 76 year old man like me. It was a great help in teaching me to do a PowerPoint program. This is a good book for beginers. Its not perfect, but I could not find a better book for a beginner like me, I know as I tried a few of them including "For Dummies"

Great software and easy to learn,
This review is from: Microsoft® Office PowerPoint® 2003 Step by Step (Step By Step (Microsoft)) (Paperback)
Without any previous knowledge of the program I was able to construct a slide show like a professional with a great variety of animations.

One of My Favorites!,
This review is from: Microsoft® Office PowerPoint® 2003 Step by Step (Step By Step (Microsoft)) (Paperback)
The Step by Step books are my second favorite to use and this particular book follows suit. I chose 4 stars because these books as far as layout and ease of undertanding/use goes, are just one step under what I consider the best out there, the "Inside Out" books.

I am a DIY computer tinkerer and like to experiment.
This book has a great deal of goo information. The problem is finding where it is. For instance trying to find details how to arrange the address book in alphabetical sequence took a bit of searching before finding the answer. The situation was similar with other subjects. In my opinion this is a common problem with many books and tutorials. They are written by knowledgeable people who fail to explain relatively complex subjects in a laymen's language. This book suffers from this issue.

The book was basic and helpful as a beginner. Unfortunately, the CD had corrupted files. I was unable to finish the course and returned the book & CD.

It is hard to write a review, before you use the book. I have looked through it and the instructions seem to be clear enough for me, a late computer user. There is an instructional DVD that comes with it, which gives you working lessons in using PowerPoint. I really feel it will meet my needs nicely.
