Great resource for learning how to use Access to analyse your data.,
By
This review is from: Microsoft Access 2007 Data Analysis (Paperback)
While most Access books focus on designing forms and reports, this book goes straight to the basics of analyzing data. After a short review of table design, the author quickly gets to the heart of data analysis by showing how to construct queries by using Access's graphical interface and illustrating how to write your own SQL. Advanced query techniques using subqueries and domain aggregate functions are fully described.
The author demonstrates how to create pivot tables and charts from within Access and how to use Visual Basic for Applications to increase the power of your application. I recommend this book for beginning and intermediate users of Access who need to learn how to use Access to analyze data. Truitt L. Finally a book on analysis with Access,

It's refreshing to see a book about data-crunching with Access (instead of how to create a "contact database" or something like that). Clearly written with concrete examples.

Advanced Skills in Access,
This review is from: Microsoft Access 2007 Data Analysis (Paperback)
This is an excellent text, it was used in my CIS 2640 Business Reports and Analysis class at Western Michigan University in the Spring of 2008. I learned a great deal about building tables and queries in Access, a tool that will come in handy in almost any business related work. It's user friendly, and I feel is a good price for what it offers, and is designed from a beginner to someone who is experienced in Office 2003, looking to update their skills.

Good Book Problems with Kindle Edition,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Microsoft Access 2007 Data Analysis (Paperback)
This is a very good book for doing exactly what the title says. Easy to follow and there are a lot of useful tips on how to design queries and perform solid data analysis using Access. This is not a beginners book on how to use Access but a good learning tool once a few Access fundamentals have been learned elsewhere.
The Kindle edition has problems. Many of the screen shots of the actual examples (in particular of the query builder) are not readable on the kindle (and aren't readable on the kindle for PC), unfortunately for many of the sections this renders the information useless since it means you can't actually read the instructions for what is being demonstrated. The hardcopy book is a 5 the Kindle version a 1 or 2. Hopefully the Kindle version can be reformatted and redistributed.

I purchased this book as a textbook for an Access class I am taking. It is a very good source to help with the class. I especially like to be able to go to the site listed on the book and work with the data on line. This helps me to practice the different tasks the book is teaching. I recomend this to anyone who is learning Access.

"Amazon OnLine Reader version of Manual,
By
This review is from: Microsoft Access 2007 Data Analysis (Paperback)
I just ordered Microsft Access 2007 Data Analysis, and paid the extra $ to use the "Amazon Online Reader" option.
Upside: as promised, I am able to immediately view the entire book using the Online Reader :-). The material seems excellent and I'm anxious to start working with the solutions the author is trying to provide me, but . . . Downside: the Online Reader image quality is fuzzy, and renders the small font images and screen captures in the book illegible :-( Tres' aggravating since the details of the solutions are spelled out in text that I Just Can't Quite Read. I'm chomping at the byte for the postman to bring my hard copy! I have emailed a query to Amazon's customer service folks, asking if there is a user-end fix for this dilemna. But, unless they have a solution, I would have to opin that the book itself appears well written and informative, but the Online Reader Option for this and other manuals with graphics needs refinement before I spend any more money on the service. PS - Yes, the OnLine Reader problem is not limited to this book. A second book, different author, different publisher, which I purchased on-line Amazon Digital rights to at the same time is also fuzzy at best and the small type is not legible. //

has a quick and well written introduction to creating queries in Access. Also covers some more advanced data analysis tools. Well worth the investment.

As an intermediate self-taught user of Microsoft Access that used the program daily I found this book very helpful in sharpening my fine skill points and in explaining program capabilities. It comes in above the basic intro level and covers the basics with intermediate to advanced skills. Easy to follow, well written but poorly edited: for example the opening 2 paragraphs for the section "Hazards of Make Table Queries" is repeated a few pages later as the opening for the general intro to Update Queries: examples are labeled differently than the charts or screen-shots, some information is mis-worded: all in all an annoying distraction which takes away from but does not overcome the usefulness of the material. I am glad I bought it, I would recommend it.

Access does a lot,
This review is from: Microsoft Access 2007 Data Analysis (Paperback)
I ordered this book in order to find out how to set up a data file. I know the basics, but each data base software is different. This book answered this questions in two pages and I will use the book later if and when I actually set my data up in Access. Right now I have it in Excel which is satisfactory for what I am doing.
