Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse

Arc Touch Mouse
A revolution in mouse design -The perfect companion for your mobile PC.
Perfectly portable-and award-winning-Touch technology

Stylish and eye-grabbing, Arc Touch Mouse is more than a pretty device. It's reliable wireless freedom plus Microsoft touch technology, on the go. Use it just about anywhere, even on a rough wood surface or carpet, thanks to BlueTrack Technology. Plus you can retain wireless control of your computer up to 30 feet away.

Curve it for use, flatten for storage

Arc Touch Mouse's innovative design allows for quick use and storage. Curve it comfortably to get started. Then smoothly glide your finger up or down the touch strip. When you're done, keep the tiny transceiver plugged into your computer's USB port, or attach it magnetically onto the underside of the mouse. Then flatten Arc Touch Mouse to turn it off, and slip it into your pocket or bag as easily as a cell phone.

Precise vertical scrolling by feel, not wheel

The Touch strip on the Arc Touch Mouse responds precisely to the speed of your finger movement, using Haptic feedback (light vibration that signals scrolling speed) to scan through documents or web pages as quickly-or as cautiously-as needed, entirely by feel.

Key Features

  1. Flexible Design - Curve for comfort, flatten to pack. A perfect fit for your hand and your mobile lifestyle.

  2. Power On and Off - Curve to turn on. Flatten to turn off. No button to switch. A green light flashes to show the battery is working, and then turns off to save battery life.

  3. Touch to Scroll - Click. Tap. Flick. Control. Quickly brush up or down with your finger to flick into hyperfast vertical scrolling for smooth, intuitive navigation. Scroll slowly with a gentle swipe or quickly with a flick of the finger, then tap to stop.

  4. BlueTrack Technology - Take advantage of BlueTrack Technology, which combines the power of optical with the precision of laser for remarkable tracking on virtually any surface.

  5. Plug-and-go Nano Transceiver - Leave the Nano Transceiver (USB) plugged in when you're on the go, or stow it magnetically in the mouse.

Great design mouse that works on any surface.

The storage for the usb dongle (magnetically attaches to the bottom of the mouse) seems like you could lose it fairly easy in travel.

Sometimes it does not respond and you have to turn the mouse off and on again to get it working again.

I bought this mouse in March 2011, and it's still going strong! To say this is by far the best mouse I've ever owned is an understatement!

I've gone through many mice that I didn't like - some are too heavy, some are too big, some are too small, some have a scroll wheel that requires too much effort, some have a scroll wheel that doesn't click at all and then I scroll all over the place.

I work long hours on a computer, and this mouse is so comfortable and easy to use. The scroll bar is sensitive but not too sensitive, and I like that it still "clicks" as my finger moves along it so I have control as I browse through pages of documents or websites. It's also easy to transport - the USB sensor is quite small and doesn't protrude much from my laptop, and the mouse goes flat (which turns the mouse off, saving the battery) and fits nicely in my briefcase without making a big lump.

The Microsoft Arc Touch has everything I want and need in a mouse. When this one dies, I'll replace it with the exact same model.

I've had this for 18 months & replaced the battery after about a year. I use my PC everyday for about 12 hours a day. I run Windows 7 Home Premium on my pc. My desktop is on the floor about 4 feet away from the mouse. It works without error. Never had any problems to date.
My hands are a men's large and the mouse is very comfortable for me.

Update 07-15-2013 - I am an ALL DAY, EVERYDAY user of this mouse now and I replace the battery every 3 months. I've had no problems to date.

I purchased the mouse as a laptop device because a touch pad is useless for some of the work I do in 3D Applications, and therefore needed the flexibility to scroll (zoom) and middle click (pan) and middle clicking involved double tapping the metal bar. It has no feedback, that either tap worked.
This became very frustrating, and I couldn't work with the mouse in 1/2 my daily applications.
Other reviewers stated that the mouse buttons are stiff, this is true, and not usually a big deal for me, but because the mouse is so light, with 2(AAA)'s it weighs nothing and is easily pushed around the desktop, clicking oftentimes also moves the pointer slightly, which was also an inconvenience when precision is desired.
Overall it's a descent mouse, and the force feedback on scrolling is kind of fun, since there's no wheel. But in the end it wasn't something I'd recommend to anybody searching for a precision pointing device.

I bought this mouse for travel purposes, and love that it is effectively a full size and profile mouse that folds flat for packing. It works just great. I'm disappointed in the storage method for the transceiver ... it took me a while to determine that the intention is that it simply ride on the bottom of the flattened mouse, attached magnetically, and marginally protected by the profile of the battery bay. Cute, yes, but in my mind a formula for disaster .. the transciever is small, as the pictures show, and easily bumped off the mouse. If you are lucky it will just get lost in your bag, if not you will need to replace the entire mouse as MicroSoft does not appear to offer a replacement transciever, although logitech does for a mere $10 for their mice. I've taken to simply leaving it in a usb port on my laptop 24/7 as a better way to store it. MS could have easily put a storage socket behind the battery bay without compromising the design.

I've had one of these for about 6 months, and just ordered another to use with my Surface when I'm doing mouse intensive stuff. I have owned or used many mice over the years, both wired and wireless. I have to say, this is one of the best, maybe the best.

As a portable mouse, this is prefect. I use a laptop at work, which I take to meetings and home. I can flatten it and can carry it unobtrusively in my shirt pocket or the pocket of my case. I no long have this big bulbous object to lug around. I'm surprised no one came up with this idea before.

As a mouse, it works great. I have used it on many types of surfaces and have never had an issue. I never need a mouse pad. It is precise and slides well. It's comfortable. The buttons and "slider" work perfectly.

I really like the fact that it shuts off when flattened. I have a regular wireless mouse at home (HP) with an on/off switch on the bottom and I never remember to turn it over and shut it off when I'm done, so it's on all the time, which shortens battery life

This is also a good conversation starter. At meetings when I take it out and start to use it. It always sparks interest.

I get about a month or two of battery life, and I use it daily at work. It uses inexpensive AAA batteries, which is nice.

Overall I have to say this is one of the more innovated and functional computer accessories I've had in the last several years.

I like this mouse, primarily because it is flat and thin when in the off position, so it does not take up much space in a laptop case or sleeve. Like other users, I find the buttons on the mouse a little stiff. You really have to retrain your fingers to be positioned very low on the mouse, as the closer you press the mouse button towards the front of the device, the more responsive it is. It will take some getting used to. Other than that, it is pretty gadgety, and I like gadgets. Only had it for a couple of days, so time will tell if I can get used to using it. Minus one star for not making the mouse buttons a little more responsive.
