The Microsoft Certified Application Specialist Study Guide
This book is excellent in preparing those already familiar with Office to take the MCAS certification Exams. I have taken and passed the certification exams for Word 2007, Excel 2007, PowerPoint 2007, Outlook 2007 and Access 2007.

If you think you are ready for the exam and are not sure what is going to be on the test, this is a great book. This is NOT to learn from if you do not know Microsoft Office, it is for someone who believes they know the material but don't know what they don't know.

I am a certified expert on Word 2002, and lately took a class at community college about what is new in Word 2007. I got hooked on the new Ribbon interface. I asked the teacher about any good books for the new certifications for Office 2007, and she recommended this one. This book is concise and direct. It is an excellent resource for anyone already familiar with Office who wants certification, and also great for everyone else who wants to see the features available in Office 2007.

Let me start by saying I used this as my sole study guide for the MCAS testing, and I am now certified.

This book is not for people who are unfamiliar with Microsoft Office, nor those inexperienced with self study. It does not teach you the absolute basics. It contains all the information on the exams, not a drop more or less. If you spend time with this book, practice the things it teaches you, and really focus, this is all you'll need for the MCAS and probably even MOS certifications.

This is an excellent exam prep book. It will NOT teach you how to use the applications. You have to go in knowing the 2007 Office System already. The instructions are clear and precise. I think of this book as Microsoft Office 2007 Boot Camp in a book. If you want to learn about Office 2007 applications this book is not for you.

An excellent resource for rounding out your knowledge in order to take the test or to learn some of the more discreet operations that you can perform within the Office. I took the tests and was able to pass all of them pretty high using this book as a prep tool.

Good book for an overview. If you are prepping for the certifications, I would highly suggest buying the individual books. (Access, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

This one does not going into as great a detail as compared to the others. I ended up buying the other five after I purchased this one.

I wanted to find a guide that would help me pass the MCAS Office exams. The teaching format itself is a little boring but it covered the information. I most appreciated that the questions are very similar in format to the real exams which was great.

I'd recommend this as a one-stop shop for all exams but there are more interesting texts available.

I easily passed 3 of the 2003 certification exams - Word, Excel, and Access, and also the Word 2007 exam. I studied Excel 2007 using a series of much more detailed books and then bought this to help me brush up and make sure I knew the material that would be covered. BEWARE - this book does not go into enough detail to help you pass the exam! Also, there are many errors in this book, and the practice "exams" are extremely simple, except for a couple which are amazingly difficult especially considering that the material was not covered.
I took the test today and failed it (just barely - darn!). The test was very difficult, not the simple little thing you think you're going to get after studying this book. It was much harder than any of the other certification exams I've taken. And this book was pretty useless as far as preparing. Now I have to go back and study my "real" books some more!
