4.0 out of 5 stars Knowledge don't come cheap, September 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Microsoft Certified System Engineer Core Requirements Training Kit (Training Kits) (Paperback)
I used the Networking essentials book from this kit and flew the exam, everybody told me that I was over studying. For workstation and server I changed tack and went out and got examcrams. Read them one day, passed the next, forgot about it the day after. I'm now up for enterprise and I am reverting back to the MS-press for the way it drums in the detail. Passing the exams is one thing, knowing the subject is another. If you want to remember what you study way down the track use MS press, if you just want a paper qualification don't waste your money. Justify that before you purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent reference and study guide., July 26, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Microsoft Certified System Engineer Core Requirements Training Kit (Training Kits) (Paperback)
Not only will this training kit help to prepare you for the test, it will make an excellent reference when you are done with the core courses. The kit comes with 120 day evaluation copies of server and workstation. You also get simulations and worthwhile videos. If you use these books correctly and do all the labs, you are a shoe in to pass the tests. They do contain alot of info that is not on the tests but do you want to study only for the test, or be able to do your job well? Other books can focus you in for the tests but these books will make you an excellent and viable MCSE.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is what you need to pass the tests., February 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Microsoft Certified System Engineer Core Requirements Training Kit (Training Kits) (Paperback)
I'm confused as to why so many people are criticizing all the Microsoft Press Books. I have taken the 4 Core exams so far and have passed all of them on the first try. Don't blame the books people. There might be something else at work here. Yes the books are dry but how exciting can you make an operating system? The excess information that you may or may not need for the exams is not useless. Who know which questions you will be asked. All of the tests are different. It just makes you better prepared and may eliminate some of the paper MCSE's out there which seem to be flooding the market.
