1.0 out of 5 stars Do Not Buy Microsoft Word 2011! March 15, 2011
By Robert
Microsoft Word 2011 has a bug that causes it to frequently crash. The crash causes every character in the document to change to a * . Nothing will return the document to its previous state. If you are thinking about purchasing Microsoft Word 2011, don't! If you have purchased Microsoft Word 2011, save often! Since this is not considered a crash by the software engineers, the autosave feature will not allow you to access a recently saved version of the document. If you have bought Microsoft Word 2011 and this has happened to you, I ask you contact Apple and complain. They are not responsive. I cannot speak more negatively about this product or Apple's responsiveness to its "valued" consumers.

2.0 out of 5 stars Expensive October 26, 2010
By Alex
Why is this $139 when the whole Microsoft Office Suite for Mac is $119. Do not buy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Big Disappointment January 26, 2011
Microsoft Office for Mac Home and Business 2011 - 1 PackMicrosoft Office for Mac Home and Business 2011 - 1 PackA quarter of what I do is to produce booklets (sometimes called "bookfold" by Microsoft). All Windows versions of Word since Word 2000 have had this simple capability, but Word for Mac never has. It seemed a no-brainer that Microsoft would fix this in Word 2011. I downloaded the trial version, only to see that the capability is still not there. Furthermore, I don't see any other changes that would be useful to me. So, I trashed my trial copy, and will continue to use a klunky Windows PC for my booklet jobs. If there is ever an upgrade to allow production of booklets, I'll buy it in two seconds. Google the words "Office 2011 trial" to give this new version a test run before deciding to spend the money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Even 1 star is too good a rating September 2, 2011
By RM@MLP
This is an atrocious application. If Word weren't such a commonly used application at my work place I wouldn't touch it even if it were handed out for free. The application hangs and crashes constantly. If you plan on using it outside the US, your country might not have support. Stay away if you can help it. Just awful!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible! Will Lose your Work! October 27, 2011
By Jenny
Do Not Use this product! I am a very cautious microsoft word user -- my autorecovery is set to every 5 minutes and I save every 10 minutes. Tonight my microsoft word document crashed and the last change that it recorded was from over 2 hours ago! This is absurd even for the program that is notorious for crashing. Not worth the expensive price for just a faulty product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buggy, constantly crashes - BAD UPDATE!!! July 4, 2012
By Private
I can't agree enough with all the negative reviews on here. I've lost a lot of time and work because this stupid version keeps crashing, when I'm doing really complicated things like, oh, just typing words without any special formatting!!!! Grrrr... I'm sick of having to re-open the damn software, and I've complained to Apple and to Microsoft. Nothing, nada, no response. Thanks for taking my money and giving me a steaming pile of crapware, Microsoft! Or Apple, whoever the heck is to blame.

Microsoft Word for Mac 2011-- IT STINKS!!! And for the price, IT REALLY REALLY STINKS!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Worst is impossible November 17, 2010
Don't buy it. You will get lost in a never ending accumulation of information/choices/squares/text at the top of what you are writing and something as simple as making a table of contents for a book becomes a nightmare... I am trying to find something reasonable and efficient to replace it and I guess it was my last contribution to the empire Microsoft...

2.0 out of 5 stars Somewhat flakey April 17, 2011
I got this with a student discount or I wouldn't have got it. The Notebook view is an attempt to work like MS OneNote. Not bad. I agree with the previous reviewers about all the strange menus. My main problem is it is still unstable. For example, be very careful about trying to change the font color from the ribbon. It locks up my whole computer for several minutes. Sometimes it comes back and sometimes not. Changing color with Format...Font works OK.
I've heard similar issues from MacBook users (I have a big iMac). For them MS Word is the only app that crashes. Maybe wait a few years for the updates to catch up.
