4.0 out of 5 stars Useful Upgrade But Expensive December 31, 2010
Verified Purchase
This has several useful upgrade features but its main downside is the price, and there is no upgrade alternative.

1. It is now fully compatible with Office 2007-2010
2. Added features allows for improved graphics
3. Some down-loadable features provide added scope.
4. Ease of integration with Office 2007 and 2010.
5. Can deliver somewhat compatible displays with Powerpoint

1. Price
2. There is a serious problem with certain bluetooth add-ins. When I first loaded it I had a Broadcom add-in and it caused crashes. I Googled the issue and found that you had to removed them totally. I could not remove the add-in since Visio denied access so I had to remove the software package. Then all worked well.
3. It lacks the vibrant styles available in Powerpoint and Word. The designs are rather simplistic and some are confusing given the color sets. It takes some time to get used to them.

As with most Microsoft products you must find the solutions to problems via Google. It is a shame that Microsoft has not made their problem resolutions easier. For example the bluetooth problem seems pandemic but Microsoft just seems to ignore it. It was not their problem as a cause so they just seem to drop the issue. Overall it has added value and ease of use, but again it is quite pricey for what it does.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good but the ribbon is miserable June 8, 2012
Visio continues to be useful drawing software. I have used Visio for 15 years and when Microsoft bought it several years ago I feard they'd ruin it; up 'till now they haven't. But, the ribbon is misrable. To make the program usable you have to build your own groups with all the toolbars that used to be built in needing only minor tweaking. In Microsof's other products I just dislike the ribbon, in Visio I despise it. I've seen people who had no knowledge of the "good ol' days" say how great the ribbon is... until they see and use the former menu & icon structure and realize how poor the ribbon is.

Visio itself still gets the job done very well albeit at a higher cost than it merits. The Visio shapes, its connecting & scaling, and the host of other features are powerful. However, there are a number of online, tools that make the Visio cost questionable. If you need powerful drawing more than once a week, Visio or AutoCAD is probably worth it. If you are an occaisional drawing program user, Visio & AutoCAD are way too expensive.

I personally have never liked AutoCAD - a Visio competitor - and continue to prefer Visio over AutoCAD though I use both. And, Visio is lower cost than AutoCAD LT. But AutoCAD, with the Ribbon advent, now has the more familiar and more useful GUI.

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs more stencils! May 1, 2011
Verified Purchase
VISIO provides a method of drawing that I have not found in any other product, however this particular version has very few stencils and for the price I expected much more. My rating is low because of this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Product July 14, 2012
Verified Purchase
This product makes developing flow charts and other diagrams easy. The software contains numerous templates that are easy to use. Revising diagrams is extremely easy, as well. Spacing and alignment are automatic. Sharing diagrams is easy. It is also easy to paste diagrams into reports with no editing needed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Doc April 5, 2012

Excellent tool for editing documents created in Visio by others. I now use both Visio and SmartDraw but find SmartDraw more useful due to superb array of templates.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good product March 16, 2012
Verified Purchase
This product took a little getting used to because the interface has been re-designed from an earlier version. At first I thought it didn't come with the libraries that the earlier version had, but after a little searching, I found what I was looking for. Now that I have gotten used to the new interface, I wouldn't go back.

4.0 out of 5 stars Getting better in newer versions November 25, 2011
By G. Pond
Verified Purchase
Microsoft has again upgraded Visio. It is NOT a 4GL or data-modeling tool as it may pretend to be. It is NOT Rational Software Modeler or ER/Studio... But if what you want is a technical diagram, not metadata, Visio is an excellent tool. Easy to use, powerful and flexible... Essential for tech writing and SDLC documentation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Normal Microsoft Product August 25, 2011
Verified Purchase
I had Visio 2000 and felt it was time to replace it for some of the new features. The product was delivered on time. The installation was smooth, there was absolutely no problem. The new Visio follows the same format as my Office 2010 products so learing it was intuitive. What else can you say, easy to buy on Amazon, good delivery and easy to use.
