Another Great Product From Microsoft,
By
This review is from: Microsoft Digital Image Standard 2006 [Old Version] (CD-ROM)
This product is fun and easy to use for people with basic editing needs. It's made by Microsoft, so it's compatible and stable on Windows. You can achieve great looking photos using this software. It doesn't have absurd system requirements like some software companies out there. Unfortunately this is one of the last Digital Image products that Microsoft made. Better grab one while it's here. I highly recommend this product.

A friend purchased a notebook computer that came with this software installed. I am the family genealogist and have been using this software to "restore" and edit scanned documents and photos. I fell in love with how user friendly it is and the editing tools and options are just what I needed. I decided to purchase my own software to install on my computer. The package arrived earlier than projected and it is exactly as advertised. I am very pleased with the purchase (both product and vendor).

No Clone or Blend brushes,

This review is from: Microsoft Digital Image Standard 2006 [Old Version] (CD-ROM)
I bought this because I liked Microsoft Digital Starter edition that came with my computer. Unfortunately I did not buy the upgrade in time and now most of the features have been deactivated, so I tried buying Microsoft Digital 2006 Standard. It does have the "create collage" feature, but does not have the clone or blend brushes that I wanted from the previous software. Does anyone know if Microsoft Digital 2006 Suite has the clone and blend brushes? Anyway, Microsoft Digital 2006 Standard runs fine on Windows 7 and it is a pretty good editing program, but I was disappointed that it can't restore the functionality of my Microsoft Digital Starter Edition.

Received the item as described, the CD was in good shape and so was the manual. I had an old Microsoft Picture it, 2001, so I wanted to upgrade a little. The Microsoft Digital Image Standard 2006 has more selections in the software them my old one and I didn't have to spend a-lot of money for a new one.
Happy with the seller and I received the item in a short time.

Useless To Me & No Install With IE7,

Because nobody told me that I had to have Windows Movie Maker to use this product I wasted my money.
I disabled Windows Movie Maker on my Windows XP years ago. Another point- this software has to install IE6 before installing the image program but windows will not take out the newer program IE7. Notice the favorable reviews are before IE7. I took out of storage an old HP desktop computer to run Microsoft Digital Image 2006, but I have lots of space for that PC and my regular 2 Acer desktops. And I put Microsoft Digital Image 2006 on my Compaq laptop that I only use to edit images on the road where I do not use the internet that insist on IE7.

Boyfriend needed a new copy because of computer crash. He swears by it, and everyone wants to know what program he uses. He takes pictures on the job site, adds text and labels to them, and turns them in with his reports. It has answered many, many, questions. A picture is worth a thousand words, but a little text leaves no doubt....

Save your money,

While I will say that this is a handy, easy to use program, it's not worth buying. Why, you ask? Cuz you can get it for free. I was using "Microsoft Digital Image Starter Edition," and after 30 days or so, the free trial ended and many of the functions were disabled. The program's still available from Microsoft's site, but you can no longer purchase and unlock it, so I bought this version... and was disgusted to discover it's a downgrade.
All of the functions that are usable past the trial on the "Starter Edition" are available here. However, NOT ONE of the great functions that were disabled after the trial (clone brush, exposure/color settings, eraser, red eye removal, paint brush, etc.) are available in this software. Not a bad program, but having used a better version for a trial period, it leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm a portrait photographer and I like minimal editing on my subjects. I bought this product because it is simple to use and will accomplish what I need-- correct facial flaws and color saturation. What this product does:
It's great for facial flaws such as age spots or wrinkles. You choose the Freehand Painting option, airbrush, then click on "more color choices" to get the exact shade you want, and don't forget to choose the transparency option in order to keep the face natural looking. It's also great for color saturation correction, lighting and contrast. Those are the simple corrections I always use. It's NOT great if you want the border shaded in an oval, faded black, such as what Photobucket offers. It does offer border shading but only in rectangular shapes. If you have a steady hand, you can free hand paint in a shaded border but it's not the same. I do miss that. For the price, I'm perfectly happy with this program. It never conflicts with my existing Microsoft programs and it's good at organizing by Star ratings, so you know which photos you want to sell and which you want to ignore. |
