Photo Story,
This review is from: Microsoft Digital Image Suite 10.0 (CD-ROM)
I bought this digital suite for the one thing it does exceptionally well. No fuss - no muss, this software makes beautiful slide shows with narration or music. There is very little personalization, very little choice in how the slide show plays out, but the pans and zooms are nicely done anyway.
Here's where the trick comes in -- it's advertised or somehow implied that the Photo Story can be burned onto a DVD to operate on most DVD players. Exactly what I wanted, but that doesn't seem to be the actual case. Unless I'm wrong (that DOES happen on occasion) the Photo Story only seems to burn onto video CDs. Makes for a short televised story, sadly. So that's the caveat. It's good software, easy to operate, burns digital files to CD or DVD for archiving and does this extra lovely thing that the Adobe Album doesn't do in the Photo Story. But only three stars for the DVD failure. Five stars if it's there and I've somehow missed it.

DVD Photo Story update,
By
This review is from: Microsoft Digital Image Suite 10.0 (CD-ROM)
Although the DI Suite 10.0 will create video stories on Video CDs (VCD), a free upgrade to Photo Story is available at: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/offers/details.aspx?displaylang=en&OfferId=7AC8A932-68A5-4147-B303-9C3456DAE568
I have used this product on a fresh install of Windows XP and an upgraded XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2). The product works great on both systems and the ease of use makes this a wonderful product with an overabundance of features for a good price. Maybe miamimeg will increase his review points based on the free update...

Strange Crashes,

This review is from: Microsoft Digital Image Suite 10.0 (CD-ROM)
The program has excellent features and useability. Definitely easier to use complicated features (like inserting photo in a selected area), than Elements. But On three different computers (Dell and Medion) this program causes a re-boot when I try to save a complex edit. If I keep it to changing levels, it saves fine. But using the noise reduction (which is impressive by the way) caused a reboot when I tried to save. Same when I inserted a photo in a selection area, and then tried to save. It could be an incompatibilty with one of the other programs on the computer. But I've had this problem on three different computers - all with XP2 and all with Firefox (But I temporarily removed Firefox, and the problem persisted, so I don't it is to blame). Had the same problem with Version 9 as well. Perhaps the incompatibility is with XP2 - Don't know. It is a mystery and keeps me from giving this a 5 star rating. I called tech support - they were unable to identify a fix for the problem - so I'm returning the software.
When I used version 9 (before XP2) it worked fine, and I liked the software a lot. It's browser-organizer is faster than the one in Elements and Photo Album. But it's not much good if the software has problems working properly under XP2.

Some functions doesn't work well, poor quality,
By Joe Brawn (Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Microsoft Digital Image Suite 10.0 (CD-ROM)
Digital Image Pro Ver. 9 was better quality software. Version 10 made improvements on automating some tasks but made other fundamental functions work really badly: If you apply Red Eye correction, most of times when trying to increase the effect to achieve a natural eye color, the software inserts like a Black ring around the eyes!! Also, the sharpen function works pretty, pretty bad!!
I don't understand why releasing to market software with these kinds of bugs on features that are used the most? why if they were working perfectly on version 9? I returned this very expensive ("very poor" price/performance) software to buy other program where all the editing functions work as they should!!

i had adobe photoshop elements 2.0 before purchasing this product. (don't buy adobe's - buy this one if you are still deciding.) Microsoft's digital image suite blows adobe's product away... much easier to use, plus easy photo organizer, and easy printing setup. All the effects and filters that photoshop elements has (plus more features), plus you get a better bargain.

Work for smaller photos but not big,
By
This review is from: Microsoft Digital Image Suite 10.0 (CD-ROM)
This program is good for working with smaller size pictures (4 x 6 in). It's just working fine. No problem. However, once you work with large image, 10 x 8 in, it was so slow in my Pentium 4 PC (725MB RAM, 3 HD, regularly defragmented, WIndows XP Prof, and background programs turned off, see nothing from the Task Manager). Basically I have a canvas size 10 x 8 in, 300 dpi resolution with several JPG pictures (1-2 MB size each) in it. When you crop the JPG or work with magic wand, the program runs very sluggish. It made me frustrated to wait 60 seconds for each activity. Note that although I have to wait for a while, the result (print out) of the images are very good and super. It's just the waiting time is very annoying.

Best Photo editor on the Market,
By
This review is from: Microsoft Digital Image Suite 10.0 (CD-ROM)
I have used earlier versions of this Digital Image 10, and both have worked wonderfully. I used the #10 on my Vista and I have just installed it on my Windows 7, and much to my surprise , It worked perfectly. The info I read said it was not compatable with Windows 7, but I did a test run on it last night and it worked just like it did in Vista. I just hated Vista, and went to the Win7 this week. Was dreading giving up my Digital Imaging 10, but now I am overjoyed that I can still use it. I don't know what the deal is that they said it was not compatable, but they were wrong. So don't give up this program...it is the best one out there and worth every penny. This software does it all and doesn't take an Einstein to operate it. It's very user friendly and most things can be figured out with just a little effort. I can't say enough good things about it.

Best Photo Enhancing Program I have.,
By
This review is from: Microsoft Digital Image Suite 10.0 (CD-ROM)
I have several photo programs and out of all of them this is the one that I use the most. The auto functions in it are usually the only thing needed to make photos look there best. For those pictures that are too faded or in too bad of shape for the auto functions to do it the manual functions are easy to use.
The other photo programs that I have are; Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI, (too complicated for easy use) Microsoft Digital Image Starter Edition 2006 Editor, (this one is OK, but cost too much for the Full Edition for what it does) Adobe Photoshop CS, (too complicated for easy use) Microsoft Picture It! Publishing Platinum 2001 (Cant get this one to run right, if it worked like its supposed to it would be great) PhotoStudio 5.5, (Simple easy program but doesn't do enough) HP Image Zone, (Doesn't do enough and doesn't work most the time) I have tried a few other programs too and out of all of them the Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10 is the one I use.

Perfect for beginners..,
By
This review is from: Microsoft Digital Image Suite 10.0 (CD-ROM)
I have loved this software since the day I got it! And I have dozens of other and MORE powerful software's. But I always go to this one first, to do the cropping and cloning, and using the histogram...and the other adjustment tools. Then I take it to another program to put the final touches to it. But you can use this for everything if you wish to do that. But I can not recommend this enough to those who want an all in one..easy program to start with. It does have many powerful tools..and I don't think you will be disappointed, especially if you are a beginner to the editing part of digital photography. Simply, out of all of my dozens of software programs....I love this one the best!.....
