I found this to be an indispensable assistant in passing the basic and advanced MOUS Excel 97 exams. The book shows you step-by-step all the skills you need to pass either of the tests. On the MCSE tests, you just need to know the answers to multiple choice questions, and that's what the Transcender material is designed to do. The MOUS tests don't work that way. You need to know how to complete each project. While the MCSE tests are basically multiple choice, the MOUS tests are project based. True, you don't get the exact questions you might see on the test, but anyone who passes the exams in the book shouldn't have any problems with the tests. It would be nice to have the exact projects that would show up on the test, but that would defeat the purpose of the test and make it worthless. For my money, this is a great book, and I would encourage users preparing for the MOUS Excel 97 exams to buy the book!

This book is an excellent review for taking the Excel M.O.U.S. test! I received the book about a week ago, spent approximately two full days reading and doing the exercises, and passed the Excel Expert Exam with no problems. Material is very hands-on, easy to understand, and provides review exercises to reinforce learning.

Just by browsing through the table of contents and then the Introduction pages, in the shop where I bought my copy of Trudi Reisner's Microsoft Excel 97 (Exam Cram), I knew this was the book I needed for my Mous Certification(Excel)Exams even though I still checked out other books. My decision to buy this book for my Excel Exam was not only because it had straight to the point notes and tasks to reinforce what I already knew but also because it had sample tests for which ever level test one was preparing for. The confirmation of my feeling towards this book came a few days ago when I passed my Proficiency level Exam with a score of 926. My only regret is that I did not go straight for the Expert Level Exams which this book would have been perfect for. But as with every new thing, there is some level of skeptisim. A few of my friends have already bought this book due my results on the exam. This is the book to buy and study for your Excel Mous Excel and I'll recommend this book to anyone and also to go straight for the Expert Level. You are sure to pass the Exams. Thanks not only to this book but also to it's Author Trudi Reisner.

Trudi Reisner does a great job covering just what you need to know for the Excel Expert or Specialist Exam--nothing more, nothing less. Quick tasks reinforce the lesson, and practice exercises and tests have detailed answers. Another 3-book set I used belabored unimportant and confusing extra details and failed to cover crucial topics.

I had a couple of questions on the material, so I e-mailed Trudi (e-mail address included with book). She was great about getting back to me and answering my questions. This book gives good test-taking hints, a last-minute cram sheet, and a personal touch!

This book tells you exactly what you need to know to pass the MS certification exam. When the author says to remember an important point for the exam, you can take her at her word. However, there are a couple of functions (Goal Seek, Scenarios) not covered in this book or the exam that you will need to know in the real world...

This book is an excellent review for anyone wishing to take the Excel 97 MOUS test. It covers all the material related to the tasks required by the test. The only problem I have with the book is that its use is entirely too software dependent. Without access to Excel 97 and the book's software as you read the book, you will gain very few skills unless you happen to be a total novice.

SORRY TO HAVE PUT MY TRUST ON EXCEL EXAM CRAM BASED UPON THEIR WORK WITH "NT SERVER" CERTIFICATION. In the past, I had used The "NT Server exam cram" successfully. When I combined it with Transcender tests, I was successful in passing the NT certification.

Recently, I recommended the "Excel 97 exam cram" to a close friend. After completing 3 ATEC courses on excel, she studied and practically memorize this book. What a disappointment to find out that the questions in this Coriolis book did NOT cover enough of the test. Since no transcender test was available for the Excel test, I wrote to Coriolis Press to ask for sample tests or a source for them. They told me my friend had nothing to worry about if she had passed the excel exam cram tests and examples. They were way off. The book is a good excel 97 book though, since my friend's knowledge on excel 97 is so high that she regularly helps us out on various projects. The disappointment was with this book's certification claims.

I practically memorized this book from cover to cover and had all the excercises down pat before going into the expert level test. I quickly became discouraged as I moved from task to task and began to realize that this particular Exam Cram book was not "The first and last book I needed to read before taking my certification exam".
