5.0 out of 5 stars Implementing, managing Exchange? This is for you!, June 1, 2004
By
Peter O Dowd (Wellington New Zealand) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Distilled (Paperback)
Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Distilled, is the perfect title for this book. There is a mammoth amount of material distilled into these 570 pages. Scott's real-world experience with Exchange is represented on every page. This book isn't just about 'how', it's about 'why', 'when' and 'where'.
The technical content is deep in places yet represented in a easy to understand, relevant way. Scott has taken care to provide links allowing the reader to drill down even beyond the scope of the book if required.
If you need a one-stop source for the new features of Exchange Server 2003, and their relevancy to your organisation, then this is the book you should get. If you're experienced in Exchange 5.5 and/or Exchange 2000, then this will give you a quick upskill in Exchange Server 2003. Even if you are completely new to Exchange Server 2003 then the text is clear and concise.
This is a must for any Exchange administrator, and it's fun to read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book on all the changes., October 6, 2004
By
Network Guy (Washington, DC United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Distilled (Paperback)
At first, I didn't think there could be a whole book on just the changes between 2000 and 2003. Boy was I wrong.

This is an excellent book for a seasoned Exchange 2000 administrator upgrading to 2003. It's ok for people trying to learn Exchange, but it assumes quite a bit of knowledge - I'd suggest getting on of the Microsoft Press Exchange 2000 books, learning that, and then getting this one.

Overall, excellent book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for any Exchange administrator!, July 24, 2004
This review is from: Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Distilled (Paperback)
Its quite obvious that the author has many years in the field working with Exchange, and the fact that his experiences are interwoven into this book (along with his easy to read writing style) makes this book one of my favorites. Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Distilled covers a tremendous amount of highly relevant and useful information. Its a great resource for anyone that wants or needs to better understand how Exchange 2003 works, and in what circumstances to configure particular features. I am so glad that he wrote it, and that I now have it in my own Exchange resource library! It is also worth noting that since writing this book, the author has joined the Exchange User Education team at Microsoft. His expertise is widely acknowledged, and his book an invaluable resource.
