I used to own a Microsoft Flight Simulator a few years ago. This is is a later version. I enjoyed the game then and I enjoy it even more now. This game is so realistic. I believe it is more fun than actually flying a plane. You can make mistakes and crash and get up and walk away. You can try things a real pilot cannot. The scenery is authentic. The airport at Kodiak, Alaska is exactly as I remember it. I flew out of there east to "Seal Island", a smallish Rock island inhabited by Sea Lions, off Cape Chiniak. I never expected to see it on a map.

I originally bought FSX and liked it very much. Later on I found out the FSX Deluxe has 1 or 2 planes more that was not in FSX. So I bought FSX Deluxe and gave my friend Mike FSX. I play FSX Deluxe frequently. One of the planes that is not in FSX is the Grumman Goose. The Grumman Goose is an amphibian plane. You can raise/lower the pontoons and raise/lower the landing gear. You can take off in water or on land and land in water or on land. You can open/close the boarding hatch. P.Corti.

This was an upgrade for me from a previous version and Microsoft has done another great job on their flight simulator. I am also using the Saitek PRO Flight Yoke System which makes a great addition to the simulator. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend this flight simulator to anyone interested in a realistic flight experience.

I gave this as a Christmas gift to my dad--retired Air Force, age 75. My adult nephew and dad (his grandfather) play this game frequently. While it is a one-person game, they consult on moves, etc (they take turns). This has become a wonderful memory maker and bonding experience for both of them! They love it. Since I have not played it, yet, I cannot give an accurate review of everything it does.

I love this game! My uncle bought it for me when I was 8, and I have been flying for 10 years! Real world and on the sim. The only bad review I have to say about this game is if you are planning on downloading some add-ons or other stuff to expand the game, you need a powerful machine. You also need a powerful machine just to run the graphics well. My specs are:

Intel Core i7-2600 CPU@3.40 GHZ, rated at 11.6GHz,
9GB of DDR3 RAM,
300W power supply,
GeForce GT545 3GB graphics card, and
Beats Audio.

I would recomend and am in the process of upgrading to:

Intel Core i7-2600 CPU@3.40 GHZ, rated at 11.6GHz,
16GB of DDR3 RAM,
800W power supply,
GeForce GTX580 4GB graphics card, and
Beats audio

I have had microsoft flight sim 2002, 2004 and X. Flight Simulator X is by far the worst! If you are used to getting add on airports and aircraft for your flight simulator game you will be totally disappointed. Almost every add on has issues with FSX. Even worse FSX has the base version, service pack 1 and service pack 2. Some add ons are only compatible with the base version, some only work with service pack one, and some only work with service pack two. If you can get your add ons to work at all.

And before you go blaiming all the add on companys out there I want to share the biggest problem with this program. Even if you use any version of this program with no add ons at all, after flying about 15 minutes to half an hour the game locks up and freezes. You know the old familiar "MS flight simulator is not responding."
Now every now and then you would encounter this is FS 2004. But in FSX it does this on almost every flight. I can't even remember the last time I had a flight last more then 30 minutes. So if you just enjoy taxing around the airports and not actually flying this simulator is for you. Oh and if you pair this program with microsoft Vista its almost completely useless.

So if you have FS2004 don't waste your money on FSX. You will be totally disappointed. If you don't have any of the Flight Simulators, save some money and buy FS2004. FSX is so unpopular some of the add on companies point out they sell add ons 5 to 1 or even 10 to 1 for Flight Sim 2004 over FSX.

I ran the Microsoft Fight Simulator an had no trouble with the game freezing up it is the computer processor over heating more fans for cooling is needed I have a 2.8 Quad Core I fly the jets with out freezing up or stalling Have A Great Day Chuck
