I state, "This Book is Great" but I also must say, This Book is Great if you don't know Front Page 98. I had had Front Page 98 for some time and finally made my mind up that I was going to publish my web site. I had no knowledge of FP 98 and this was the book I purchased. Wow! It was able to teach me everything I needed to get Published. Now.....once you are published and want to do more you will need another resource. If you accept that you will need to purchase another book down the road and this one is to get you started, this book is for you.

This is an average book which will introduce you to some of the basic features of Frontpage 98. It very well could have been an outstanding book except for the fact that the CD ROM which contains lessons to follow as you progress through the book has problems. They did post a fix for the CD Rom but I still had some problems with it. I e-mailed MS Press for assistance to which they did respond. However, when I needed more detailed assistance and twice asked for a phone number to talk to a tech they did not respond with one.

I was disappointed with this book. There is practically nothing on troubleshooting when things don't work, and importing the Zoo lesson site didn't work.

I also found the coverage of forms very superficial. This book is very basic and will be of little help to anyone who is already familiar with Frontpage or most any other editors.

Definitely not for test preparation, but I would agree with those who say it is a good teaching or self learning program for people new to the program.

The book is a great book to start with, especially if you are learning it by yourself. It covers all the basics, and the examples are easy to follow. But if you are looking for some more advanced topics such as scripting, connecting to a database or security issues, then this is not the book to buy.

I bought this book, knowing very little about web pages. It takes you through building a imaginary site, step by step. Makes a good 'referral' book for those of us who aren't building sites 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.Doesnt go into the deep nitty gritty, but that isn't what is was made for. A very good FIRST book on Frontpage 98.

This book is teaching me the things about Frontpage 98 that I did not get from other tutorials. I would have given it 5 stars but there seems to be a few errors in the CD that accompanies the book. Since the Book and CD are completly integrated this presents a problem. Thankfully, fixes are posted on the books support webpage. This is a good step-by-step manual.

I thought this book was presented well and excellent for a beginner who wishes to use Front Page. BUT .. I was very frustrated while trying to load Lesson 3.... The version of the CD I had was in error .. Good luck! (I would have given this book 4 stars if not for the problem with the CD.)

Reworks an already made Morgan Park Zoo site. A very nice web site, but not much guidance for making your own site from scratch. I would not recommend this book if it were your only Frontpage 98 text.

I use this book to teach a six week course at our local community college.

I can cover about two chapters per class (three hours) along with personal experience from developing sites.

Students have said in their class reviews that they really like the exercises that are supported by materials on the CDROM.

If you are thinking of taking the Microsoft Exam Designing and Implementing Web Sites with Microsoft FrontPage 98, don't bother with this book. It is of little or no help. If you are a first time user of Frontpage 98, then go ahead.
